According to VietNamNet's investigation, the project of 3D printer production and software services, product manufacturing services on 3D printers using carbon fiber polymer materials of Arevo Vietnam Company Limited (Arevo), has ceased operations at Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP).
Previously, in January 2021, the SHTP Management Board granted an investment registration certificate to Arevo's project with a total investment capital of 19.5 million USD. SHTP representative said that to realize the technology product, Arevo Company submitted a dossier to build a manufacturing plant. The project has been licensed and SHTP really hopes that the project will soon come into operation.
Notably, Arevo Company was founded by former CEO of Facebook Vietnam Le Diep Kieu Trang and her husband Sonny Vu. This company once informed about the production of bicycles using 3D printing technology, the first monocoque carbon fiber bicycle named SuperStrata.
The project promotes that, with 3D printing technology, super light carbon fiber material, the car weighs only nearly 1.3 kg, is designed and manufactured according to user needs and the SuperStrata product is expected to be associated with the country and people of Vietnam...
Ms. Le Diep Kieu Trang once introduced: Each Superstrata bike is 3D printed seamlessly to adapt to each person's image and riding style. Each frame will be made to fit each person, whether short or tall. The bike is manufactured using laser and robot technology, operated by a team of creative experts, creating the world's first monocoque carbon fiber bike frame. That means no screws, no joints and no glue, just a block of industrial-grade carbon fiber, made from the highest-grade composite compound compared to all types of bicycles on the market. The frame is so light that it weighs less than 2 water bottles.
However, recently, when put into actual use, the SuperStrata bicycle product has been criticized by the community for its poor quality. Customers reported that the delivery of the bicycle was delayed for many months; the bicycle was ordered for thousands of USD but upon receiving the bicycle, it was discovered that the material of the bicycle was not as promised, the bicycle details were poorly finished, and even unsafe... When consumers complained to the manufacturer, they only received silence, without a clear explanation.
According to the website, Arevo is a technology company in Silicon Valley (USA), the only company in the world that owns the technology to manufacture products using 3D printing with carbon fiber materials.
The Superstrata, the world’s first 3D-printed carbon fiber monocoque bicycle, is being marketed on Indiegogo, where it raised $1 million in sales in the first 24 hours and $7.5 million in three months.
