Specializing in humorous supporting roles in prime-time Vietnamese films, actor Anh Duc is a university lecturer in real life, living a happy life with his wife and two children.
Anh Duc plays Tien - a "useless" husband in everyone's eyes.
Don't worry about the audience hating the character Tien - Anh Duc is often directed to play comedic roles with a witty personality. What kind of character is Tien - your character in "Cheer up, brothers"? The role of Tien in Cheer up, brothers is a humorous role of mine, also a talkative, talkative guy who loves his wife but is also afraid of his wife. However, Tien is a person who values brotherly affection and always has the spirit of starting a business to constantly get rich. Tien is in his 30s but in real life I am 41 years old. Therefore, I had to try to change both my appearance and personality, my inner psychology to suit my character.Tien stole his wife's money many times to start a business but failed.
- Tien is devoted to his friends, and because of that, his wife and children often suffer. In real life, how are you similar to and different from the character? In real life, I am similar to the character Tien in that I am a person who lives enthusiastically and wholeheartedly with my close friends and relatives. But I am different from Tien in that I always know how to balance and clearly distinguish between friends and family to avoid being affected by each other. - The type of husband like Tien in the movie often receives negative reactions from the audience. In fact, after the first few episodes of the movie, there were many comments hating the character. Are you afraid that the audience will hate you too? I am not worried that the audience will hate the character Tien. When reading the script and learning about this character, I found Tien to be a lovable person, more pitiful than hateful. He also loves his wife and children and tries to start a business to earn money to support his wife and children, fulfilling his duties as the breadwinner of the family. However, Tien's sometimes childish personality, combined with his lack of luck on the path of starting a business, unintentionally made him a useless person in the eyes of everyone, but in truth, he is still a good person.Anh Duc and Anh Dao work well together despite the large age gap in real life.
- When you first worked with actress Anh Dao, how did you feel about your co-star? Were you both shy or nervous in front of the camera? Although it was the first time I worked with Anh Dao, I had watched the films she had acted in before. I found Anh Dao to be a young co-star but already had good acting skills, got into character very quickly and coordinated well with her co-star. During the filming, even in the scenes with a bit "hot" scenes, both of us comfortably coordinated our performance without any shyness. Outside of filming, we still discussed and gave each other advice on how to act to have the best coordination for each scene. It was common to have to hold back laughter while filming . - In the film, there are quite a few scenes where Tien was scolded by his wife, even "kicked and punched", are there any funny behind-the-scenes stories that you can tell the audience? It's true that in Cheer Up, Brothers, there are many scenes where Tien and Thu quarrel and curse each other. What I remember and find funniest is the scene where Anh Dao tripped me, making me almost fall face down on the ground. According to the script, after the couple argued, I would leave. It was like that during rehearsal, but when filming, I just stood up and left, Anh Dao cursed and tripped me, making me almost fall. I was surprised but still continued acting. Watching that scene again in the movie, I found it quite natural and funny. - Thai Son happily shared about acting with his co-stars, especially Anh Duc. Did he ever have to hold back his laughter while filming? Holding back laughter while filming was a regular occurrence, not just for Thai Son and I but also for the entire film crew. Thai Son and I have the same sense of humor, so we often play pranks and come up with funny lines to "insert" during the performance. Because of that extra touch, when filming, we were often "exposed". Sometimes I could hold back my laughter, but Thai Son couldn't, and vice versa. Or there are times when Thai Son and I just look at each other and can't help but laugh... That's why sometimes we have to film a scene over and over again. My wife is gentle, loves her husband and children. In real life, Anh Duc has been a lecturer for 18 years.
- Although he is an amateur actor, the audience calls Anh Duc the "comedian" of VTV films, specializing in supporting roles but "carrying the team", what do you think about this comment? I feel happy and pleased when the audience comments like that. I myself always try to improve myself in acting to be worthy of the love of the audience for me. In addition, I also have the desire to not only make the audience laugh but also bring tears to the audience. I hope to have the opportunity to express myself in other types of roles besides comedy roles. I think that is not only my wish but also the wish of everyone working in the acting profession, to be able to transform into different roles. - Specializing in funny roles, I wonder what Anh Duc's personality is like in real life? For those who do not know or have just met him, they will see that I am a quiet, taciturn, and difficult person to approach. But for those who have known and played with him for a long time, they will see that I am also a cheerful, humorous and sociable person. At home, I am always the joker, bringing laughter to the whole family. - Besides acting, do you seem to be a very strict teacher? At school, I am not a strict teacher but a bit unapproachable and cold. I feel like I am a different person every time I go to school. Maybe the serious pedagogical environment has created such a personality in me. I have been attached to the pedagogical environment for 18 years now. Currently, I am the head of the Drama - Cinema Acting Department, Faculty of Culture and Arts, Central University of Art Education. In real life, Duc has a happy and fulfilling life with a virtuous wife and obedient children.
- How does your wife support you in living your passion? My wife is a gentle person, loves her husband and children, and always supports and encourages me on this artistic path. She watches and cheers for all the movies I act in. Due to the nature of my job, I often have to be away from home for many days. At those times, my wife works alone, takes care of the children, and does other housework for her husband without complaining. I consider myself lucky to have such a wife. - Does your family intend for your children to pursue art from a young age? My whole family is in the arts. My wife is a music teacher. However, my two children currently do not show any inclination towards art. And my wife and I's point of view is not to force our children to pursue art like their parents, but to guide them in that career based on their future interests. - Working in many jobs at the same time, acting is a passion that you will pursue seriously or is it just "riding a horse to see flowers"? I came to this acting profession by fate, it is a profession that chooses people. I am passionate about acting and always want to give it my all. I will devote myself while I still have the chance and opportunity. And if the chance ends, I will happily accept it. Anh Duc in the movie "Cheer up, brothers":Vietnamnet.vn
