In addition, units also develop policies to train on-site staff through sending candidates to participate in programs of the Ministry of Education and Training , exchanging lecturers from international cooperation programs, etc.
Raise input standards
The recent recruitment announcement for 33 lecturers by the University of Economics , Vietnam National University, Hanoi requires candidates to have qualifications such as professor, associate professor, doctor; domestic/international graduate student; master's degree from a foreign university or business manager, expert in economics, business, management.
The university autonomy mechanism and constraints on the criteria for the proportion of lecturers with doctoral degrees according to Circular 01/2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training on standards for higher education institutions, in developing employment projects, universities prioritize recruiting lecturers with at least a master's degree.
For nearly 10 years, member universities of Danang University have not recruited lecturers with bachelor's degrees, but require at least a master's degree and give priority to those who are doing research.
As for the 2023-2024 academic year, the University of Economics, University of Danang sent 12 lecturers to study for a doctorate in developed countries around the world. The unit also recruited 14 more staff members, including 10 lecturers with a master's degree or higher.
In 2024, Danang University will have 57 more PhD lecturers. Among them, many new PhDs were trained, recruited, and successfully defended their theses from prestigious universities with advanced education systems such as: France, Japan, Australia, Russian Federation, Korea, China, Taiwan - China, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Austria, etc.
According to data from the Ministry of Education and Training, as of August 2024, the total number of university and college lecturers will reach nearly 91,300, an increase of 5,300 compared to 2022. Of which, the number of PhDs will increase by nearly 2,600, bringing the total number of PhDs at the university level to 33% if including professors and associate professors. This is a positive signal, showing that schools have a strategy to improve the quality and standardize the qualifications of their staff.
To meet the standards for teaching staff, universities and colleges focus on recruiting candidates with the capacity and qualities suitable for the teaching profession, with priority given to lecturers with a master's degree or higher; only rapidly developing professions with limited recruitment sources accept lecturers with bachelor's degrees.

Internationalization of teaching environment
In early July 2025, the University of Economics, Danang University in collaboration with the Vietnam Finance Association International (VFAI) organized a workshop on "AI and language in finance: Decoding information from unstructured data".
Two international speakers, Professor Hang Nguyen (Michigan State University, USA) and Dr. Mo El-Haj (VinUniversity) shared in depth about the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) to analyze unstructured financial data.
Previously, the Finance and Banking departments of the University of Economics, University of Danang had a working session with Dr. Ariel Viale, Palm Beach Atlantic University (USA), an expert of the Fulbright Scholar Program. According to Dr. Ariel Viale, promoting research cooperation in the industries and economic sectors that are developing strongly in Asia in general, Vietnam and Danang city in particular is a need and trend that needs to be strengthened.
Accessing and sharing highly reliable international academic database sources is the basis for scientists and lecturers of similar universities to promote their strengths in scientific research cooperation and improve the quality of international publications in prestigious journals.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Tung Lam - Head of the Finance Department, University of Economics, University of Danang said that in order to improve academics and research for lecturers, the department is promoting contents to invite prestigious experts from partner universities to be speakers in academic exchanges with lecturers, students, and trainees of related majors and cooperate in researching highly practical topics.
In addition to inviting lecturers from international universities to exchange and interact at member universities, some lecturers of Danang University have the opportunity to participate in academic exchange programs and lecture at international universities.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Thang Nguyen - Faculty of Chemistry, University of Education, University of Danang, participated in teaching and research on exchange at Mie University (Japan), said that the new working environment helps lecturers learn many things from Japanese professors and colleagues, not only about academic content, professional activities, but also about how to organize a research group.
Similarly, Associate Professor Dr. Phan Hoang Nam - lecturer of the Faculty of Bridges and Roads, University of Science and Technology, University of Danang has many guest lectures at the University of Roma 3 in Rome, Italy. In particular, he mainly teaches the subject of Application of machine learning models, behavioral models in predicting response and failure probability of structures for the doctoral program at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Aviation Technology.
Along with the new policy on science and technology, many higher education institutions have built support policies, creating favorable conditions for lecturers in scientific research such as providing guidance on research methods, data mining; allowing lecturers to connect with foreign partners, businesses, organize seminars, etc.
This is considered a lever for lecturers to have the conditions for academic autonomy, update new trends, and improve scientific research capacity.
