The 9.2-hectare land area in Thu Thiem will be built into an International Financial Center, becoming a place to attract many international investors, increasing FDI capital into key economic sectors in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City plans to use a 9.2-hectare land plot in Thu Thiem to build an International Financial Center. According to the plan, the Ho Chi Minh City International Financial Center will be built on 11 plots of land (coded from 1-1 to 1-11) in functional area number one of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area project, Thu Duc City.
According to Dan Viet reporters, this is currently an empty land that has been planned to build technical infrastructure for transportation, electricity, water, telecommunications, lighting... but there are no construction works or residents yet.
There are also many large projects in this area such as Thu Thiem theater and Thu Thiem 3 bridge, Thu Thiem 4 bridge and pedestrian bridge across Saigon river.
According to the plan to develop telecommunications and digital infrastructure to serve the construction of the International Financial Center, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City proposed to use a 9.2-hectare land plot in Thu Thiem. The Department will coordinate with telecommunications enterprises and related units to deploy telecommunications and digital infrastructure, including 100% coverage of 5G mobile network, installation of fixed broadband optical cables on all routes, ensuring access speed to meet requirements, serving information connection and development in the area where the financial center is built.
Many roads in this area have been completed, spacious and airy.
A series of high-end real estate projects and international standard office buildings are located around the International Financial Center.
The new urban area of Thu Thiem was approved by the Prime Minister in 1996 with a scale of 930 hectares located on the East bank of the Saigon River opposite District 1. The population of this urban area is about 200,000 people, resettling 45,000 people.
In November 2024, the Politburo approved the policy on the Project to build a regional and international Financial Center in Vietnam. In which, Ho Chi Minh City is oriented to become a comprehensive International Financial Center, playing a key role in connecting the domestic financial market with the region and the world.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that the International Financial Center will be a new driving force to help the city accelerate its development and breakthrough. This is an opportunity to attract many international investors, increasing FDI capital into key economic sectors.
