Mr. Ngan has a son who is currently performing military service, leaving only his two elderly parents at home. Thanks to the participation of more than 20 people, more than 2 sao of ripe rice of Mr. Ngan was harvested and neatly threshed on the afternoon of May 15.

Muong Noc is one of the communes with a large rice production area in Que Phong district, with 205 hectares, of which the majority of the area is planted with Japonica rice variety with high yield and quality, which is one of the main sources of income for the people of Muong Noc commune. In other communes, especially border communes, the armed forces and military units also actively support people in harvesting rice.

Similarly, in Mon Son commune (Con Cuong), it is also the time for people to harvest rice. Therefore, Mon Son Border Guard Station coordinates with other forces such as the Youth Union, Women's Union, and Commune Police Youth Union to help people harvest and thresh rice right in the fields. Mr. Luong Van Ty in Tan Son village said that his family has more than 2 sao of rice, but because his wife is currently seriously ill and cannot work, the rice is ripe but there are too many people. Thanks to the help of the Party Committee and the government in harvesting rice, the harvest and threshing were completed in just one session, the family only needs to dry and store the rice, no longer worrying about the rain and wind.

In Tuong Duong district, officers and soldiers of Tam Hop and Tam Quang border posts also mobilized forces to go to the fields with the people to harvest rice. Early in the morning of May 17, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Tan - Political Commissar of Tam Quang Border Post said that the unit sent 7 officers and soldiers to help 2 households, Mrs. La Thi Thuong and Mrs. La Thi Thoa in Tung Huong village, harvest 4 sao of rice and thresh rice right in the field. These are households that the unit is responsible for building economic development models, near-poor households, households with difficult circumstances, and single-parent households in the commune.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Cam - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the provincial Border Guard said that in the border communes, people are currently harvesting spring rice, the unit has directed border posts to actively help people harvest, especially helping single-parent and disadvantaged households, and households with children sponsored by border posts. Up to now, border posts have mobilized more than 100 officers and soldiers to help 18 households harvest more than 6 hectares of spring rice; contributing to supporting people to harvest the crop quickly, avoiding damage caused by adverse weather.

Harvest the rice as soon as it is ripe.

These days, Mr. Lo Van Tuan's family in Na Cay village, Tien Phong commune (Que Phong) mobilized manpower to go to the fields to harvest spring rice. Mr. Tuan planted 2 hectares of spring rice. He said that this year's spring rice crop was good, the grains were plump, promising high yields, so his family was very excited to harvest. Moreover, May often has unusual rain and wind, even storms, so following the instructions of the commune and district agricultural officers, his family rushed to harvest. Places where the rice is evenly ripe, with a rate of over 80%, will be harvested first. The entire Tien Phong commune planted about 300 hectares of spring rice, concentrated in Na Cay, Phuong Tien 1, Dan villages...

In the 2024 spring crop, Que Phong district will plant about 2,700 hectares of rice, spread evenly across most localities in the district. However, according to Mr. Phan Xuan Hung - Deputy Director of the Que Phong District Agricultural Service Center, the largest spring rice area is in the central communes, with an average area of about 100 hectares/commune. Some localities have large rice growing areas such as Muong Noc, Chau Kim about 200 hectares/commune, Tien Phong about 300 hectares. In particular, Tri Le commune has 450 hectares...

Mr. Phan Xuan Hung said that currently, the 2024 spring rice crop in Que Phong district is in the stage of waxy ripeness to full ripeness, and the late tea is in the stage of milky ripeness (mainly in Tri Le commune). With the extreme weather developments as in the past, harvesting rice as it ripens is very important, helping to minimize damage. The climate in the highland region during the rainy season from April to September is often sunny in the morning and rainy in the afternoon, so the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that people focus on harvesting in the early morning until before 3 pm every day to avoid rain, wind, even thunder, tornadoes, and hail.

In Ky Son district, Mr. Nguyen Ba Cuong - Deputy Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the 2024 spring crop, the whole district planted about 220 hectares, concentrated in communes such as Huu Kiem, Chieu Luu, Huu Lap, Na Ngoi... By mid-May 2024, rice in the localities had begun to ripen. However, this is also the time when the weather is unusual, most recently in Ky Son district, there have been 3 consecutive hailstorms and tornadoes, causing severe damage to houses and crops. Therefore, the district directed people to harvest "rolling", choosing fields with a high percentage of ripe rice, and harvesting in more distant areas first.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nghe An has planted 91,075 hectares of spring rice in 2024, reaching 100.64% of the plan by mid-May. The whole province has harvested over 5,000 hectares of spring rice, mainly in the plain districts such as Yen Thanh, Dien Chau... The highland districts have a colder climate and the rice ripens later, so people are just starting to harvest now. The whole province strives for a food output of about 1.2 million tons in 2024; of which, the spring crop of 2024 strives to reach 703,625 tons of food to contribute greatly to achieving the overall goal of the whole year.
