On the afternoon of March 20, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung received a delegation from Meta technology company led by Mr. Rafael Frankel - Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia.

Over the past time, cooperation activities between the Ministry of Information and Communications and Meta have been enhanced in both breadth and depth. In 2024, this cooperation will be pushed to a higher level with many specific activities.

Meta representative said that in 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications and Meta will cooperate on combating online fraud, coordinating the handling of content on Internet platforms, activities within the framework of the international game exhibition - Vietnam GameVerse 2024, and at the same time, consider organizing an award for content creators of the year.

In addition, according to Mr. Rafael Frankel, Meta is expected to work with the School of Training and Development of Information and Communication Management Staff (Ministry of Information and Communications) to organize a number of training courses on the use of social networks to increase the effectiveness of policy communication.

Based on the cooperative relationship over the years, Meta proposed the need for a cooperation framework or memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Information and Communications to create an information sharing mechanism, while helping both sides be more proactive in planning cooperation in the following years.

In response to Meta's sharing and suggestions, Deputy Minister Nguyen Huy Dung highly appreciated the activities that this platform has organized for the user community in Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that Meta needs to soon coordinate with relevant units of the Ministry of Information and Communications to organize communication campaigns, providing information about online fraud and how to prevent it.

The Vietnamese government is very concerned about protecting people on the Internet and social networks. Therefore, Deputy Minister Nguyen Huy Dung suggested that Meta should have a method to receive reports and handle accounts, pages, and groups related to online fraud.

Meta also needs to coordinate with Vietnam in connecting and sharing with the national anti-online fraud database and building solutions to protect users on social networks.
