Engineer Corps: Improving combat readiness, building modern works

The draft political report and comments at the conference affirmed that in the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee, the Command of the Engineering Corps, Party committees and commanders at all levels have always been united, maintained the principles of leadership and comprehensive direction of all aspects of work, successfully completed the goals and tasks; targets set out in the Resolution of the 14th Congress of the Corps Party Committee.

The highlights are: The Party Committee has led the implementation of the advisory function with the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on engineering tasks and the development of legal documents in the fields under the management of the Corps; proactively forecasted and grasped the situation to propose the organization of units in accordance with the requirements of building a strong, lean Army and organizing two-level local governments; directed the entire army's engineers to improve the quality of engineering training and engineering technical work; cleared mines and explosives; effectively implemented the task of building national defense works, focusing on combat works in strategic and key directions...

In addition, the Party Committee of the Corps has well led the task of clearing mines and explosives, actively developed programs, plans, projects, and national strategies on overcoming the consequences of post-war mines and bombs, contributing significantly to economic and social development and ensuring the safety of people's lives.

Training, drills, education and training are organized closely to meet mission requirements; emphasis is placed on training in mastering weapons and technical equipment and the ability to perform tasks in all conditions.

The Congress also discussed and determined the direction, goals and tasks for the 2025-2030 term with eight main objectives, focusing on improving the leadership capacity, fighting strength of the Party Committee, overall quality, combat readiness, and task performance of the Corps. In which, thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the breakthroughs identified in the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Party Committee of the Army, term 2025-2030; at the same time, the Engineering Corps focuses on breakthroughs in scientific research, creative application and digital transformation.

Speaking at the congress, on behalf of the Central Military Commission, Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang congratulated the outstanding achievements of the Party Committee and the Engineering Corps in recent times. From the reality, new requirements have been set in building the Party Committee and the Corps; in order to lead the implementation and successfully complete the tasks in the 2025-2030 term, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army requested the Party Committee of the Engineering Corps to focus on implementing 5 main contents.

First of all, continue to thoroughly grasp and concretize the resolutions, directives and orders of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense into the tasks of the Corps; comprehensively lead and effectively carry out the tasks assigned by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to the Corps; proactively forecast, actively research, grasp the situation, and promptly advise the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on engineering tasks.

The focus is on building, amending and promulgating legal documents in the fields of engineering management. Well performing the entire army's function of combat readiness; directing the improvement of the quality of engineering training; performing the task of building national defense works and the task of clearing bombs, mines, explosives, and overcoming the consequences of post-war bombs and mines. Focusing on researching, advising and proposing to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on purchasing and producing engineering equipment and weapons to meet the requirements of building a modern army. Along with building high-quality human resources, a team of cadres and party members with good political qualities, absolutely loyal to the regime; focusing on building a system of modern defense works to ensure the safety of leaders and forces in new combat conditions and environments when war breaks out.

In addition, focus on leading the building of a strong, comprehensive, "exemplary, typical" unit; strictly maintain the combat readiness regime, synchronize the system of documents, forces, means, and materials suitable for the stationing situation; closely coordinate, organize and practice the plans, be ready to mobilize to carry out tasks in all situations. Organize serious, quality, realistic training, training to master weapons, technical equipment, training according to tasks, high-intensity training, in difficult and complicated conditions.

At the same time, promote scientific research, creative application and digital transformation; pay attention to researching, analyzing and synthesizing wars and military conflicts in the world related to engineering tasks to propose tasks and be ready for possible future wars.
