Today (September 22), the 2024 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship kicked off in Nakhon Ratchasima (Thailand) with the participation of two Vietnamese clubs, Ninh Binh and Duc Giang Chemicals. This is the tournament in which the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, called Sports Center 1, won the championship title last year.

Tran Tu Linh and Duc Giang Chemicals team lost the opening match of the Asian Club Championship.

In this year's tournament, Duc Giang Chemicals Club is the current national runner-up, in Group A with Nakhon Ratchasima Club, Kwai Tsing (Hong Kong) and Kuanysh (Kazakhstan). In the opening match against Kuanysh Club, Tran Tu Linh and her teammates lost 0-3 (17/25, 22/25, 20/25). Possessing 2 foreign players, Tichaya Boonlert (Thailand) and Elena Samoilenko (Russia), but in the opening match, Duc Giang Chemicals team only sent Thai foreign players onto the field and could not create any surprises for the opponent from Kazakhstan.

Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen could not help Ninh Binh Club make a difference against a strong opponent from Japan.

The reigning national champion Ninh Binh team with quality players such as Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Le Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trinh and Thai foreign player Warisara Seetaloped could not surprise the NEC Red Rockets (Japan) team when they met in the first match of Group B. Bich Tuyen was still the main scorer with many powerful attacks, however, the players from Japan were more even and played better, so they won convincingly 3-0 (25/15, 25/21, 25/18).

At 1pm tomorrow (September 23), Ninh Binh Club will face Monolith Skyrisers Club (Philippines) in the second match of Group B while Duc Giang Chemical Club will face Kwai Tsing Club (Hong Kong) at 7pm in the second match of Group A. The group stage will be used to determine the rankings and form the basis for the quarter-finals. Participating in the Asian Women's Volleyball Club Championship is an opportunity for Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and other Vietnamese hitters to hone their skills.
