Women's Union members of Hamlet 3, Minh Thang Commune actively responded to "Green House" to raise funds to support poor members and disadvantaged children.
The model of “Green house collecting scrap, protecting the environment, sharing love” has been deployed and maintained by the Women's Union of Hamlet 3, Minh Thang Commune for nearly a year now. Every day, plastic bottles, cans, scrap iron, cardboard... discarded by families are collected by mothers and sisters, and during the association's activities, they are donated to the “Green House” located at the hamlet's cultural house. When the “Green House” is full, the association organizes a sale to raise funds to support poor members and disadvantaged children.
Ms. Le Thi Mai, Head of the Women's Association of Hamlet 3, shared that at the beginning, the Management Board and members of the model went to each household to propagate and share the purpose and meaning of establishing the "Green House"; at the same time, they guided households to classify organic and inorganic waste. For organic waste, families dug holes to bury and use it as fertilizer; for inorganic waste, families would collect it themselves, then bring it to a collection point for centralized treatment; for recyclable waste, families were encouraged to collect it to support the "Green House".
“The members are very supportive. For members who live far away, we tell them to collect the scrap and send someone to their homes to help take it away. Many families in the hamlet who have parties also give cans, water bottles, cardboard boxes, etc. to the association,” said Ms. Mai.
The "Green House" model has been spreading among women's associations in Minh Thang commune.
Initiated in November 2023, the first "Green House" of the Women's Union of Minh Thang commune is located at the mass organization block of the People's Committee of the commune with 35 key members. These are all active propagandists in propaganda work, mobilizing members, women and people to classify waste and collect scrap for the "Green House". After a period of operation, the model gradually received active support from cadres, members and people, and has now multiplied to 4 houses in the whole commune. Through the sale of scrap, all the money used was donated to the people in the North who were flooded during Typhoon Yagi, giving 60 gifts, 10 scholarships to members, women, lonely elderly people, and children in difficult circumstances in the commune.
To materialize the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" and respond to the movement "Anti-plastic waste" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, in addition to the "Green House" model, Minh Thang women also organize the planting and care of flower streets in residential areas.
Women of Hamlet 1, Minh Thang Commune take care of the flower road
Ms. Tran Thi Lien in Hamlet 1, Minh Thang Commune said that with the motto "Clean from home to alley", women in the hamlet regularly participate in cleaning and planting trees and flowers along both sides of hamlet roads and group roads to beautify the living environment. In addition to seasonal flowers, women also find woody flower varieties to plant so that the trees last longer. Everyone encourages each other to weed and fertilize the trees so that they grow well and bloom beautifully. Thanks to the contribution of women, the "bright - green - clean - beautiful" roads in Minh Thang Commune have changed the appearance of a locality on the journey to build a model new rural area.
Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Minh Thang Commune, Dang Thi Nga, shared that the programs, models, and environmental protection activities of the women of the commune did not stop at launching, but have spread widely in the community, creating a good habit, raising the sense of responsibility of each person for "Protecting the environment is protecting human life". The models, programs, and activities also contribute to forming the awareness of saving, fighting waste, strengthening the spirit of solidarity and mutual love among women members. This is also an effective propaganda method of the Union to attract women to participate in activities in the Union organization...
“In the coming time, the Women's Union of Minh Thang commune will continue to propagate and mobilize cadres and members in all branches to participate regularly and actively in cleaning up village roads and alleys, planting flower paths to create a green and clean environment. We also set a goal of spreading the “Green House” model widely, so that each branch has at least one model. Thereby creating consensus among cadres and women members to join hands in protecting the environment, contributing with the Party Committee and local authorities to build a model new rural commune,” said Ms. Dang Thi Nga.
