Speaking at the event, journalist Le Xuan Son, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the cold could not stop or slow down the flow of warm blood that is filled with human love. The cold could not stop Red Sunday from a small blood donation event in the winter of 2009, which has now become a large voluntary blood donation movement of young people and many classes of people nationwide.

The Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper believes that Red Sunday has become as strong as it is today thanks to the active and effective participation of many forces and classes of people.

Over the past 16 years, Tien Phong Newspaper, together with the units in the organizing committee, the Youth Union, Association system, universities, academies, enterprises, and forces, have built Red Sunday to achieve two goals: Mobilizing the amount of blood each year, and building a voluntary blood donation movement. Up to now, the country's blood donation movement has grown, basically meeting the need for blood for treatment in hospitals. Red Sunday with the amount of blood mobilized annually accounts for a significant proportion of the amount of blood donated nationwide.

"Blood used in treatment and saving patients is a special medicine that human science and technology, despite its progress, have not been able to prepare. Therefore, when patients need blood, they need love and sharing. Red Sunday is one of the places where love and sharing are most concentrated" - journalist Le Xuan Son said.

The 16th Red Sunday is expected to mobilize more than 100,000 participants and receive about 45,000 - 50,000 units of blood.

Previously, on December 3, the main Red Sunday festival in the Southern region was held at Van Hien University in coordination with Military Hospital 175 and the Southeast Mobile Police Regiment of Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the first time the Red Sunday festival in the Southern region has been held, marking a new development step of the Red Sunday movement. This is also the 5th time Van Hien University has joined in organizing Red Sunday.
