After the 3-1 victory of the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team over Egypt on the afternoon of August 13, CNN Indonesia wrote: "The Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team continued to show impressive performance when defeating Egypt at the U21 Women's World Championship, even though they lost an athlete due to being banned from competing in the match."

“In the match against U21 Egypt, the Vietnam U21 women's team still maintained its strength. Notably, only one player of the Vietnam U21 team is currently suspended from competing, the other is eligible to be allowed to enter the field by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), CNN Indonesia added.

Previously, the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team won second place in the group and qualified for the knockout round of the U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup. However, FIVB unexpectedly issued a decision to cancel the results of 4 out of 5 matches of coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his team. That caused the Vietnam U21 women's team to fall to the bottom of the group, eliminated from the round of 16 at the tournament taking place in Indonesia.

However, the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team still played very hard in the 17-24 ranking match and won against Egypt U21 after 4 sets.

FIVB did not specifically mention the violation regarding the use of personnel in the U21 Vietnam team. However, CNN Indonesia speculated that it was an issue related to the test samples of Vietnamese athletes.

“FIVB initially did not name the athletes whose blood and urine samples were taken, but experts and some international media agencies discovered that two were absent from the match between the Vietnam U21 women's team and Puerto Rico. Now, after the testing is complete, only one of the two has been banned from competing in this year's tournament,” CNN Indonesia emphasized.

Meanwhile, Thailand's Siam Sport newspaper commented: "FIVB's decision to punish the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team has shocked the volleyball world."

“The Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team was punished by having the results of matches in which the players suspected of violating the rules were present on the field were canceled. The incident took place at the 2025 U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup.

The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) denied the allegations in some international newspapers. VFV said that FIVB only requested additional records of the athletes involved," are still the lines written in Thailand's leading sports daily.

Also according to Siam Sport: "VFV and related athletes still have the opportunity to provide documents to clarify more about them, this process can last until after the 2025 U21 Women's World Championship".

Overcoming difficulties, the U21 Vietnamese women's volleyball team defeated Egypt in the 17-24 qualifying match. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team will continue to compete with U21 Chile, in the 17-20 qualifying match. This match will take place on August 15.
