These are three of 135 intellectuals who will be honored as outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals on August 28 in Hanoi.

A total of 452 outstanding intellectuals in science and technology have been honored.

The ceremony to honor outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals has been organized four times by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) since 2015.

At the press conference to inform about the honoring ceremony on August 23, the representative of the organizing committee said that the number of outstanding science and technology intellectuals honored four times was 452 people.

135 outstanding intellectuals in 2024 have been carefully selected by the selection council of the Vietnam Union of Intellectuals Associations.

Those selected for honor are intellectuals who have worked in research institutes, universities, enterprises, agencies of industries, fields, localities, and organizations in the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations system for 10 years or more.

These people must have scientific prestige, have many practical and effective contributions, and have influence on the development of the industry, agency, or unit; be recognized by society, nominated by that agency or unit, and introduced by agencies and units within the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations system.

Among the 135 outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals, there are 14 women and 121 men.

There are three Labor Heroes including: Associate Professor, Doctor, People's Physician, Labor Hero Nguyen Tien Quyet, former Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Association;

Prof. Dr., Hero of Labor Nguyen Viet Tien, Vice President of Vietnam Medical Association;

Associate Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher, Labor Hero Nguyen Thi Tram, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Plant Varieties Association.

The youngest intellectual is under 40 years old, the oldest is 95 years old.

The oldest intellectuals honored are Prof. Dr. Trinh Van Tu, born in 1929 (95 years old), former Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Prof. Dr. Dang Huu, born in 1930 (94 years old), former member of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Science and Education Committee, former Minister of Science and Technology.

The three youngest intellectuals include specialist II Doan Tien Duong, chairman of the Young Physicians Association of Bac Giang province, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, head of the Department of Nephrology - Urology - Andrology, Bac Giang Provincial General Hospital;

Engineer Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Quang Ninh province, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Span Construction Technology Design and Development Joint Stock Company;

Dr. Nguyen Van Huong is Deputy Head of Environmental Technology Department, Institute of New Technology, Ministry of National Defense.
