Economic-infrastructure development
On March 30, 2007, the Government issued Decree No. 50/2007/ND-CP establishing Ayun Pa town on the basis of adjusting the administrative boundaries of Ayun Pa district. Currently, Ayun Pa town has a natural area of over 28,000 hectares, a population of over 41,000 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 49.8%.
After 18 years of establishment, the cadres and people of Ayun Pa town have united, strived to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and developed comprehensively in all fields. The appearance of urban and rural areas has improved; people's lives have been increasingly improved; political security and social order and safety have been ensured.

From a locality with a low economic starting point, by the end of 2024, Ayun Pa's total production value reached 4,498 billion VND, 9.3 times higher than in 2007. The economic structure shifted in the right direction, gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture and increasing the proportion of industry and services.
In 2024, the total cultivated area will be more than 11,583 hectares; industrial production value will reach 2,498 billion VND, 10.4 times higher than in 2007; total retail sales of goods and service revenue will reach 2,410 billion VND, 14.28 times higher than in 2007. State budget revenue in the area will be 140.5 billion VND, reaching 125.46% of the provincial estimate.
In recent years, Ayun Pa town has focused on the task of building urban infrastructure. Many important projects, works, and connecting and spreading routes have been implemented. The town has invested in drainage systems, sidewalks, trees, and lighting. In particular, the Project on socio-economic development investment in ethnic minority areas in 9 residential groups in 4 wards with a total investment of 28,456 billion VND has helped make the appearance of the residential groups more spacious. 100% of the roads in the groups have been concreted and have drainage ditches.
In addition, the internal roads have also been solidified to facilitate people's travel and transportation of agricultural products. Many canals have been invested in repairing or building to serve people's production development.

Implementing one of the three key programs of the Resolution of the Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, Ayun Pa town has promoted the conversion of crop structure, forming raw material areas for processing factories.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ayun Pa town - said: "Based on available raw materials, the town is interested in leading, directing and orienting cooperatives, agricultural associations, branches, and professional associations to cooperate with enterprises in production and consumption of products for farmers. At the same time, attracting enterprises, especially processing enterprises, to invest in the area, contributing to sustainable agricultural development".

The whole town has 666 hectares of sugarcane, 250 hectares of tobacco, 179 hectares of cassava, 176 hectares of rice and some other crops. Currently, there are 4 enterprises that are associated in production and consumption of products for the people. Of which, tobacco has Huu Nghi Tobacco Company Limited, Kim Ngoc B Company Limited (Ia Rto commune) and Minh Khang Cao Nguyen Trading One Member Company Limited (Ia Sao commune); sugarcane has AgriS Gia Lai Agricultural Joint Stock Company.
The national target program on new rural construction has been widely, synchronously and effectively implemented. By the end of 2019, all 4 communes had met new rural standards. On June 2, 2022, the Deputy Prime Minister signed Decision No. 672/QD-TTg recognizing Ayun Pa town as having completed the task of building new rural areas.
In addition, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program continues to be focused on. Currently, the town has 19 products that have achieved OCOP certification, of which 6 products have achieved 4-star OCOP. In 2024, Mira Nest sterilized bird's nest jar product of Win Nest Alpha Bird's Nest Production-Trade-Import-Export Company Limited will be recognized as a typical rural industrial product in the Central Highlands region.
Imprints from poverty reduction work
Along with economic development, the cultural and social fields have also undergone strong changes and achieved many results. Cultural and sports institutions have received investment attention; physical training and sports activities have increasingly developed and achieved many successes. Education and training, and health care for the people have been increasingly improved; disease prevention and control, and food hygiene and safety have been given importance. At the same time, attention has been paid to the preservation and development of traditional cultures of ethnic minorities.

Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duong Thi Huong town said: Every year, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels focuses on propagating and mobilizing individuals, units, businesses, and philanthropists to support the "For the Poor" Fund and social security programs. From this fund, many "Great Solidarity" houses have been built, hundreds of families have been helped, contributing to poverty reduction in the locality.
In 2024, 56 agencies, units, organizations and individuals supported the town's "For the Poor" Fund with a total amount of 510 million VND. From this fund, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town built 9 "Great Unity" houses (50 million VND/house) and repaired 2 houses (30 million VND/house) for poor and near-poor households.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front in communes and wards mobilized nearly 230 million VND to build houses, develop production, help poor students overcome difficulties, and give gifts to poor and near-poor households on holidays and Tet. By the end of 2024, the town will have 20 poor households, accounting for 0.2%; 222 near-poor households, accounting for 2.21%.

Secretary of the Town Party Committee Tran Quoc Khanh : After 18 years of construction and development, Ayun Pa town has made strong progress in all areas, contributing to the overall development of the province. According to the plan, after the merger, the town will have 1 ward and 2 communes remaining, including: Ayun Pa ward (based on the merger of 4 wards: Doan Ket, Cheo Reo, Hoa Binh, Song Bo); Ia Rbol commune (merging 2 communes: Chu Bah, Ia Rbol); Ia Sao commune (merging 2 communes: Ia Sao, Ia Rto). The streamlined apparatus according to general requirements will create conditions to improve work efficiency and effectiveness, towards the ultimate goal of serving the people in the best way.
In particular, responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town called on organizations, individuals and philanthropists to donate 180 million VND to support the construction of 3 houses for 3 poor households in Ia Rbol commune.
As one of three households supported by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town to remove temporary and dilapidated houses, Ms. Nay H'Meh (Rung Ma Doan hamlet, Ia Rbol commune) could not hide her emotions. The total cost of building the house was 93 million VND, of which through the town's "For the Poor" Fund, AgriS Gia Lai Agricultural Joint Stock Company supported 60 million VND, the Department of Finance supported 30 million VND, the rest was contributed by the family.
“I thank the Party, the State, the local government, and benefactors for supporting my family in building a spacious house. My daughter, who is in her first year of university, was very happy to hear the news and said she would bring her friends home to visit this summer,” Ms. H’Meh shared.
On March 25, Ayun Pa town completed the demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses with a total of 32 houses, becoming the first locality in the province to reach the finish line ahead of the province's plan.
According to Secretary of the Town Party Committee Tran Quoc Khanh: “This result is thanks to the determination of the entire political system from the town to the villages and hamlets; the consensus and joint efforts of all classes of people; the support of philanthropists and businesses. The houses are all spacious, well-furnished, and more solid than the original design. This will be a new beginning to help families have more motivation to improve their lives. The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is also a condition and basis for all localities in the town to achieve the goal of no more poor households by the end of 2025, in accordance with the resolution's targets."
