After nearly a week of releasing the iOS 18.3.2 update to bring some notable improvements and new features to users, Apple has officially stopped signing iOS 18.3.1. This move is not surprising to iOS users as Apple often stops signing older iOS versions to prevent users from downgrading. When an update is locked, it cannot be installed on the iPhone due to server-side software verification checks.

iOS 18.3.1 is a relatively minor update that fixes a security vulnerability found in iOS accessibility features that was actively exploited by attackers.

It is understood that an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain physical access to an iPhone or iPad, potentially disabling USB Restricted Mode on a locked device. USB Restricted Mode is a feature that requires an iPhone or iPad's passcode to allow it to connect to a computer or other device via USB. Bypassing this system would allow an attacker to access user data stored on the device.

According to Apple's release notes, the iOS 18.3.2 update adds important bug fixes and security updates. On some devices, the update fixes an issue that could prevent playback of some streaming content.

Apple is currently developing iOS 18.4 and will release it soon.
