From August 26, Binh Trieu 1 Bridge on National Highway 13, Ho Chi Minh City, will enter an important upgrading phase. Instead of demolishing and rebuilding, construction units will apply "jacking" technology to raise the entire bridge structure by 1.08m. This move is not only to increase the clearance (distance from the water surface to the bottom of the bridge) to make it easier for ships to travel on the Saigon River, but also opens a new direction for the renovation of traffic works in Ho Chi Minh City.

Binh Trieu 1 Bridge is not just an ordinary bridge, but also one of the most important traffic arteries of the city. Located on Highway 13, this bridge acts as the main gateway connecting the central area of Ho Chi Minh City with key economic provinces in the Southeast such as Dong Nai and the Central Highlands. Every day, a large volume of vehicles, especially trucks and containers, travel here to transport goods from industrial parks to seaports and the city's commercial center. Therefore, any change at this bridge will have a great impact on the entire regional traffic system.

With such a strategic role, upgrading Binh Trieu 1 Bridge becomes a big challenge. However, by applying advanced hydraulic jacking technology, this project has found the optimal solution. The entire giant bridge will be slowly lifted to the correct design height while motorbikes are still allowed to travel normally on the bridge. During this time, cars will be regulated to Binh Trieu 2 Bridge, a smart solution to both ensure construction safety and minimize traffic jams, which is a major concern of the people.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced traffic adjustments on Binh Trieu 1 and Binh Trieu 2 bridges to serve the construction of raising the clearance of Binh Trieu 1 bridge. Accordingly, cars will be prohibited from passing through Binh Trieu 1 bridge , while 2-3 wheel vehicles are still allowed to circulate normally.
As an alternative, cars can take two routes. Route 1 is: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street – Highway 13 (Binh Thanh Ward) – Binh Trieu 2 Bridge – Pham Van Dong Street, Highway 13 (Hiep Binh Chanh Ward). Route 2 is: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street – Highway 13 (Binh Thanh Ward) – Dinh Bo Linh Street – Nguyen Xi Street – Pham Van Dong Street, Highway 13 (Hiep Binh Chanh Ward).
For Binh Trieu 2 Bridge, vehicles will be organized to circulate in two directions. From Dinh Bo Linh Street to Pham Van Dong Street, cars will travel on a 3.5m wide road (2-3 wheel vehicles are prohibited). Conversely, from Pham Van Dong Street to Dinh Bo Linh Street, the lane next to the right pedestrian curb is for 2-3 wheel vehicles and cars, while the lane next to the left median strip is for cars. People traveling through this area should pay attention to obey the commands of traffic controllers and the road signal system.
