The 2025 US Open takes place in New York (USA) from August 24 to September 7 and is the last Grand Slam of the year. Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the top candidates for the championship, while Novak Djokovic is skeptical about his chances of going far.

Coach Rick Macci (who coached Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova) gave Djokovic advice: “Djokovic can win the US Open, because he still has ambition, but he must make sure not to play matches that last 4 or 5 hours to avoid losing his physical strength.
If the draw is favorable, or Alcaraz or Sinner have problems, the situation will change for Djokovic. But if Nole has to overcome both of these opponents after intense matches, it will not be an easy journey.
As the seventh seed at the 2025 US Open, Djokovic could face either Sinner or Alcaraz in the quarterfinals. These two young stars have won the last seven Grand Slams and dominated world tennis for the past two years.
Novak Djokovic did not do badly in 2025, as he won his 100th ATP title at the Geneva Open and reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon. Nole eliminated Alcaraz in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Australian Open, but he lost to Sinner in the semi-finals of Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
The Serbian player paired with Danilovic and lost to Medvedev - Andreeva in the first round of the mixed doubles event of the 2025 US Open on August 20.
Djokovic is under intense pressure from his home country's press after reports emerged that he and his family wanted to move to Greece. Tensions have been building since early August, when Djokovic moved the ATP 250 Belgrade Open from Serbia to Greece.

The event moved to the OAKA multi-purpose arena in Athens, Greece, and was renamed the Hellenic Championship, kicking off on November 2.
“A fake patriot who has considered himself a symbol of Serbia for years has now fled to Greece,” the Serbia Informer commented on August 20.
Djokovic has been showing his closeness to Greece in recent times, such as having dinner with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and looking for a house in the northern suburbs of Athens. Greek media also confirmed that Djokovic and his wife Jelena are also considering some schools for their two children in this area.
