According to Hidustan Times, on October 21, a few hours after being suspended due to technical problems, India successfully launched an unmanned spacecraft at 10:00 a.m. (local time).

This is the first test of the Gaganyaan manned space mission.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said in a statement that the flight test of the crew emergency escape system was successful, with the module separating from the rocket and landing in the sea, about 10km off Shiharikota in the Bay of Bengal. The project to send India's first human space explorer is expected to cost about 90.23 billion rupees ($1.1 billion).

The mission will involve launching a spacecraft with a three-person crew into an orbit 400km away before returning them safely to Indian waters. The exact timeline has not been announced, but Gaganyaan is expected to launch from the country’s main spaceport in Sriharikota before the end of 2024.
