On August 21, the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts opened the exhibition "Ho Chi Minh - Portrait of a Man" to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The exhibition introduces to the public 80 paintings, including 59 oil and watercolor paintings by the late overseas Vietnamese artist Dao Trong Ly (1951-2024) and 21 propaganda paintings by artists from the Indochina College of Fine Arts, Resistance Art Course.
Mr. Tran Minh Cong, Deputy Director in charge of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum, said that the exhibition is a special journey, carried out with the consciousness and artistic perspective of the late artist Dao Trong Ly - a son living far away from home who always had love for Uncle Ho. Through the exhibition, the public will understand more about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh.
In this exhibition, the late artist's works were mainly created in Thailand during the period 2018-2024, focusing on depicting the revolutionary journey of President Ho Chi Minh, from the early days of finding a way to save the country to important historical milestones. The image of Uncle Ho appears as an outstanding leader, as well as a simple, close person, full of love for the people.
In addition, the exhibition also introduces 21 propaganda paintings created during the period 1969-1980; thereby contributing to making the image of President Ho Chi Minh a great source of inspiration, associated with important national holidays.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, said that for many generations of artists, President Ho Chi Minh's career is an endless source of inspiration.
This exhibition not only gathers many valuable works by the late artist Dao Trong Ly but also brings evocative propaganda paintings with strong colors and clear messages.
This is also an opportunity for the public to commemorate the beloved leader, national liberation hero, outstanding cultural figure, and to arouse the pride and responsibility of today's generation through valuable art objects.
The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh - Portrait of a Man” is open until September 5, at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts (97 Pho Duc Chinh, Ben Thanh Ward)./.
