Dak Nong province's planning identifies 4 socio-economic sub-regions to maximize the potential and strengths of each region.
Gia Nghia is the political, economic, social center and the core urban area of the central socio-economic sub-region of Dak Nong province. Gia Nghia is currently a type III urban area and is oriented to reach type II by 2030. Dak R'lap (and Gia Nghia) belong to the central socio-economic sub-region of Dak Nong. Dak R'lap is the industrial "locomotive" of Dak Nong with Nhan Co Alumina Factory which has been in commercial operation since 2017 and Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant (above, left corner) under construction. Currently, Nhan Co Alumina Factory produces about 700,000 tons of alumina per year. The factory creates jobs for more than 1,000 workers and contributes about 400 billion VND to the Dak Nong budget each year. Dak Song belongs to the western economic sub-region of Dak Nong with great potential for renewable energy. In the district, there are 6 wind power projects that have been and are being implemented, of which 1 project has been completed and put into commercial operation. Tuy Duc border district belongs to the western economic sub-region of Dak Nong with great agricultural potential. Tuy Duc has many high-quality agricultural products, the most famous of which is macadamia (In photo: Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan visits the macadamia production model in Tuy Duc in 2023) In Tuy Duc border district, there is Bu P'rang border gate, located in Quang Truc commune. The border gate is located about 80km from Gia Nghia city center and is the gateway for trade with Mondulkiri province, Cambodia. Dak Mil belongs to the northern socio-economic sub-region of Dak Nong with a long history of development. Dak Nong province's planning strives to turn Dak Mil into a town by 2030, achieving a type III urban area. Cu Jut belongs to the northern socio-economic sub-region of Dak Nong, adjacent to Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak). In Cu Jut, Tam Thang Industrial Park was established and has been operating since 2002. Currently, the occupancy rate of Tam Thang Industrial Park is about 90%, making a great contribution to the local industry. Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark spans 5 districts and cities, mainly in Krong No district (pictured is Nam Kar Volcano). After being recognized by UNESCO in 2020 and re-recognized in 2023, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark has become a destination for many domestic and international tourists. Krong No belongs to the Eastern economic sub-region and is the food center of Dak Nong. There are large fields stretching along the banks of the Krong No River, creating special, delicious rice products that are world-famous. Ta Dung Lake of Dak Glong district (in the eastern economic region of Dak Nong) is considered as "Ha Long Bay of the Central Highlands" with its wild beauty and attracts many tourists to visit. ]]>
