On the morning of June 15, answering VTC News, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the number of candidates registering for the entrance exam to grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School has increased sharply. The Department received about 4,800 registrations, an increase of 1,200 compared to last year.
This year, the school recruited 15 classes with 525 students, on average, one candidate had to compete with 9 other students to compete for a place in grade 6 of the school. Except for 2021 when there was no exam, this is the highest competition rate since 2015.
The competition ratio for entering grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (HCMC) in the 2023-2024 school year is 1 to 9.
In previous years, the number of applications the school received was about 3,500 - 4,000, with a common competition ratio of 1 to 7.
According to the plan of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will take place on July 4. The test time is 90 minutes.
Candidates will take a test on abilities such as: Language (English, Vietnamese - writing); mathematics and logical thinking; natural sciences, social sciences (History - Geography); common sense of life.
In terms of form, the competency test consists of multiple choice and essay parts.
For the multiple-choice test, candidates will take a 20-question test in English about their understanding of natural sciences, social sciences and common sense in life within 30 minutes.
For the essay part, candidates will have 60 minutes to complete the test, including: English proficiency test (listening, reading, writing); candidates will complete the test in English.
Test of mathematical and logical thinking ability, reading comprehension and writing ability. Candidates take the test in Vietnamese.
After submitting the application, from June 21 to June 23, candidates will receive the exam card. The competency assessment will take place on July 4.
Survey results are expected to be announced on July 11.
From July 12 to July 14: Students submit admission applications.
After 4:00 p.m. on July 14, 2023, if students do not submit their application, the school will remove their name from the admission list.
