To celebrate the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2023), the exhibition space "Rolling Red River" was solemnly held at the Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site (Hanoi). "Rolling Red River" consists of two main exhibition contents: Long-term resistance war and Historical return day. In which, the content of "Long-term resistance war" reflects the atmosphere of the army and people of the capital responding to the call for national resistance. During 60 days and nights of steadfast fighting, heroic feats were achieved, creating conditions for the whole country to prepare to enter the long-term resistance war.

Visiting the exhibition were many historical witnesses, including former students of the Hanoi resistance war from 1947-1954, former political prisoners of Hoa Lo prison, Phu Quoc prisoner of war camp and witnesses who participated in the takeover of the capital in October 1954.

Colonel Duong Niet (in uniform), a former soldier of Binh Ca Battalion, Capital Regiment (now Regiment 102, Division 308), was moved when standing in front of the exhibition space. He shared: "I am very moved when remembering the compatriots and comrades who sacrificed their lives, and are still respected by everyone today. Those people remind us of the past to see the hatred for the enemy and the sacrifices during the resistance war."

Mr. Nguyen Tien Ha, former political prisoner of Hoa Lo Prison, former officer of the Hanoi Military Front, was present at the exhibition space. During the opening ceremony on the morning of October 4, the flag-raising and singing of the national anthem to celebrate the Lunar New Year of Nham Thin by political prisoners at Hoa Lo Prison in 1952 were reenacted. In the deprived prison, political prisoners tried every way to create the national flag from a Nam Dinh sheep blanket issued by the prison. The yellow star was cut and assembled from small pieces of paper wrapped in supplies from relatives and families of political prisoners. Despite being brutally suppressed and tortured by the enemy, the soldiers were determined to protect the sacred national flag.

The moment standing under the national flag singing the Marching Song is also the moment when soldiers are given more faith and strength in prison.

Many people were moved when recalling the memories recreated in the exhibition space.

The exhibition gate area evokes the image of the Red River waves surging strongly like the spirit of perseverance in fighting, the determination to regain independence, the image of female resistance students of Trung Vuong High School for Girls - Hanoi participating in the parade, carrying the flag to promote the spirit of fighting against foreign invaders in 1953... Uncle Do Hong Phan (formerly a resistance student of Chu Van An School, Secretary of the Youth Union of Resistance Students of Trung Vuong Girls School, Hanoi) felt very emotional when reviewing the images at the exhibition, especially when everyone was interested, recalling how the youth of Hanoi lived and fought at that time.

An image of Uncle Phan when he was young also appeared in the exhibition space "Rolling Red River". Uncle Phan recalled that every young man during the resistance war carried within him a national consciousness, clearly understanding the hatred between the people and the oppressive and exploitative empire.

In the content of "Historical Return Day", the exhibition shows that the victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign marked a historical milestone, forcing the enemy to sign the Geneva Agreement and withdraw troops from Northern Vietnam. At this time, Hanoi was in the 80-day assembly area of ​​the French army.

Under the direct leadership of the Party Committee taking over the capital, the people of Hanoi steadfastly and persistently fought against all sabotage plots of the enemy, protecting the city intact before the victorious army advanced on October 10, 1954.

Students from the Academy of Journalism and Communication had the opportunity to visit and learn more about history on the first day of the exhibition "Red River in Waves". Some students could not hide their emotions when watching the realistically recreated scenes. The exhibition "Red River in Waves" will take place at Hoa Lo Prison until December 30, 2023.
