Construction, economy and investment are key cooperation areas in the Korea-Hanoi relationship.

On the morning of October 27, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung received the new Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Youngsam for a courtesy visit on the occasion of his new term. Also attending were member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Trong Dong.

Reviewing the achievements of the capital and the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung stated: Korea is currently an important partner of Vietnam in many fields, in which the highlight is economic cooperation.

Cooperation between the two countries has developed rapidly and effectively in all fields, from politics, diplomacy, security - defense to economy, culture... Political trust and mutual understanding have been enhanced, creating a solid foundation for the fields of cooperation to develop deeply and sustainably.

For Hanoi, Korea is one of the traditional and important partners, with many outstanding cooperation results in various fields. Some typical projects of Korean investors have been opened and put into operation in Hanoi in recent times such as the Research and Development Center of Samsung Group, Lotte Mall West Lake project of Lotte Group...

Since 2017, Hanoi has coordinated and supported the Korean Embassy in Vietnam to organize many outstanding cultural and artistic exchange events. The land of kimchi is one of the major markets attracting tourists to Hanoi.

Hanoi currently has cooperative exchange relations with Korean localities, including maintaining regular and effective cooperation with the capital Seoul and exchanging delegations with Busan city.

More and more Korean enterprises and investors are interested in and want to expand investment and production in Vietnam in general and Hanoi city in particular.

Regarding the orientation of attracting foreign investment, Hanoi city has identified priority investment promotion in a number of fields that bring high added value in the coming time such as agriculture, tourism, education - health; other key sectors such as high-tech projects, supporting industries, bio-industry, new materials, environmental technology, clean energy, etc.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung informed that the Government has agreed to transfer Hoa Lac High-Tech Park from the Ministry of Science and Technology to Hanoi. This is a large technology park and Hanoi has policies to support businesses, attracting the attention and large projects of foreign investors, including South Korea. Currently, there are 5 projects of Korean investors and partners being implemented in Hoa Lac High-Tech Park with a total investment capital of about 277.2 million USD.

Thanking the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for sharing information, Ambassador Choi Youngsam commented that Hanoi and Seoul have many similarities, which are advantages for the two sides to cooperate and develop. According to the Korean Ambassador, the fields of construction, economy and investment are key cooperation areas in the Korea - Hanoi relationship.

Pointing out typical Korean construction projects in recent times such as Starlake Urban Area in Tay Ho Tay, Lotte Mall... which have received attention and support from Hanoi city, Mr. Choi Youngsam hopes to continue receiving this support to remove some difficulties and obstacles for projects of Korean enterprises being implemented in Hanoi.

Referring to the Korean International School in Mai Dich - the largest Korean school abroad to date, Ambassador Choi Youngsam assessed that with the good relationship between the two countries, more and more Koreans are coming to live in Hanoi, so the need to expand the school is very necessary. The Korean diplomat hopes that the Hanoi Party Committee will support the expansion of the school in the near future.

Thanking the Korean Ambassador for his opinions and suggestions, Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung acknowledged the difficulties and problems of the projects mentioned at the meeting and said he would actively coordinate to promptly resolve them.
