On the afternoon of February 29, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, a meeting was held with intellectuals, scientists, and artists on the occasion of the beginning of the Spring of Giap Thin 2024.

The Party and State's deep concern for intellectuals, scientists, and artists

With the theme “Intellectuals, scientists, artists accompany the Party, the Fatherland and the People, building a prosperous and happy country”, the conference was attended by 210 delegates representing intellectuals, scientists, artists with many outstanding achievements in their work, contributing to the development of science and technology, education, training of the country and an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity. Also attending the conference were representatives of leaders of Central Committees, Ministries and branches.

The conference to meet with intellectuals, scientists and artists in the Spring of Giap Thin 2024 is a very meaningful activity, demonstrating the deep concern of the Party and State for intellectuals, scientists and artists, especially when the Central Executive Committee issued Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW, dated December 24, 2023 on continuing to build and promote the role of intellectuals to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable national development in the new period; the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 69-KL/TW, dated January 11, 2024 on continuing to implement Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW, dated November 1, 2012 of the 11th Party Central Executive Committee on continuing to develop science and technology to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration; The Secretariat is summarizing 15 years of implementing Resolution 23 NQ/TW of the Politburo, 10th tenure, on continuing to build and develop literature and art in the new period; and summarizing 50 years of Vietnamese literature and art after the country's reunification.

Affirming that the country's intellectuals, scientists and artists play an important role and are of key significance to the fate and future of the nation, our Party and State always hope that scientists, intellectuals and artists at home and abroad will continue to be devoted and devoted to the nation and people, constantly promote their talents and intelligence, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, focus on training and guiding the next generation, and be ready to shoulder the responsibility in the future, for a Vietnam that develops sustainably, is prosperous and happy.

At the Conference, with sincere and profound feelings and a high sense of responsibility, the delegates who are intellectuals, scientists and artists took the time to openly discuss and share their experiences, outstanding results and determination to contribute, and aspirations of themselves, their industry and their circle. The delegates expressed their feelings, joy, honor and deep impression at the fact that the leaders of the Party, the State and the agencies organized a meeting with intellectuals, scientists and artists at the beginning of the new year; emphasizing that this is a vivid demonstration of the Party and the State's care and concern for intellectuals, scientists and artists.

The delegates affirmed their belief in the leadership of the Party and the administration of the State, which has brought our country to further development; although there are still many difficulties, Vietnam's position and strength have been strengthened; the results that the country has achieved in many fields; the country has never had such a foundation as today.

Many opinions expressed the hope that the Party and State will continue to pay attention to, encourage, build and perfect mechanisms and policies, creating favorable conditions for the team of intellectuals, scientists and artists to continuously grow and contribute more, meeting the requirements of national development in the new situation.

Increasingly great contributions to the common cause of the Party and the nation

According to the President, 2023, a pivotal year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, is a very difficult year when the world situation is volatile, complicated, unpredictable, with increasing uncertainties, prolonged conflicts, increasingly extreme weather and severe natural disasters; the world economy is slow to recover, negatively impacting all countries.

In that context, under the correct and wise leadership of the Party, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, our entire Party, people and army have united to overcome difficulties and achieved many important and quite comprehensive results in all fields.

Among those proud achievements are the valuable and very important contributions of the team of intellectuals, scientists, artists in many fields. The team of Vietnamese intellectuals, scientists, artists has grown stronger and stronger in recent times, has become more and more active, and has made increasingly great contributions to the common cause of the Party and the nation.

Through their activities, the team of intellectuals, scientists, and artists have increased the quality of human resources; advised, consulted, debated, and provided many scientific arguments, contributing to perfecting the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; achieved many achievements in specialized and in-depth fields; contributed to promoting digital transformation in many fields, improving labor productivity, production and business efficiency, contributing to improving people's lives, ensuring social security, especially for people in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, remote areas, and particularly disadvantaged areas of the country; contributing to the dissemination of progressive knowledge, education, raising people's awareness of political, economic, cultural, social issues... Many intellectuals, scientists, artists are exemplary in work, study, research and creation, dedicating themselves to the people and the country, rising to regional and world levels, being internationally honored, loved and admired by the public.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his respect and deep gratitude to generations of intellectuals, scientists, artists - talented people of the country who have devoted their intelligence and efforts, worked tirelessly with love for people and country, always accompanied the Party, nation and people, overcame countless difficulties and challenges so that "our country has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as today".

According to President Vo Van Thuong, the Vietnamese people have a tradition of valuing talents and loving intellectuals. The history of development of prosperous countries has clarified a truth, the strength of a nation does not lie in the resources in the ground or the sea but in people with intelligence and dignity. In Vietnam, it is the intellectuals, scientists, artists, especially the talented ones - "the vital energy of the nation", full of aspirations, daring to think, daring to do, innovating and creating, with love for the Fatherland and the people who have played a pioneering and important role, lighting the fires of innovation, laying the foundation for development, opening up potentials, creating breakthroughs, leading the country to overcome difficulties and challenges in each period.

Building a team of intellectuals that is increasingly strong in quantity and quality

President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that continuing to build, develop and promote the great role of intellectuals, scientists and artists in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland is a very important and necessary task both in the short and long term.

Therefore, Party committees, Party organizations, agencies and organizations in the political system continue to thoroughly grasp and synchronously and effectively implement the Party's Resolutions on intellectuals, science and technology, education and training, culture, literature and arts. Raise awareness of the position, role and importance of intellectuals, scientists and artists; actively institutionalize the Party's policies and guidelines, create a favorable environment to best promote the role and contribution of intellectuals, scientists and artists to the cause of national construction and defense.

Building a team of intellectuals, scientists, and artists that is increasingly strong in quantity and quality, especially a team of leading experts and scientists in key, important, and new fields; training highly qualified human resources, nurturing talents for the country; cultivating literary and artistic talents; arousing patriotism, national pride, aspirations and will to rise up, being ready to devote oneself, contributing intelligence and talent, preserving, conserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of the nation, spreading good things and kindness; actively building an increasingly prosperous country, a more civilized and progressive society.

Promote democracy, respect freedom of thought, freedom of creativity, enhance responsibility and professional ethics; create the best conditions to unleash the potential, promote the intelligence and creativity of intellectuals, scientists and artists. Have an effective mechanism for intellectuals, scientists and artists to participate in consulting, supervising, criticizing, assessing society, advising the Party and State to make correct and timely decisions, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development in the new period. In the immediate future, participate in researching and summarizing 40 years of national renovation; build documents for Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 6th Party Congress; summarize 50 years of Vietnamese literature and art after the country's reunification.

Associations of intellectuals, scientists and artists from the central to local levels, especially the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations and specialized associations, continue to strongly innovate content and methods, improve the quality of activities, promote, gather and unite an increasingly large number of intellectuals, scientists and artists at home and abroad; truly be a professional working environment, becoming a reliable and solid bridge between the Party, the State and intellectuals, scientists and artists.

Emphasizing that the country is in great need of intellectuals, scientists, artists with a passionate love for the Fatherland, deep sympathy for the people, great aspirations, ready to devote themselves, integrate into the rich and vibrant reality of the country's life, accompany the Party and the nation on the journey to realize the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, equality, civilization, and steady progress towards socialism, President Vo Van Thuong deeply believes that: "The team of Vietnamese intellectuals, scientists, artists, whether living and working in the country or abroad, with love and responsibility, talent and creativity, can all contribute to the Fatherland in their own way; together foster and promote the strength of the great national unity bloc and the good values ​​of Vietnamese culture and people, creating a great endogenous strength, bringing our country to increasingly develop, prosperity and happiness".
