On the morning of December 21, at the Naval Region 3 Military Port (Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City), the Naval Region 3 Command organized the handover of the Quang Ngai fishing boat with registration number QNg 94373-TS and 5 fishermen to local authorities. Colonel Doan Bao Anh, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 3 chaired the handover ceremony.
Fishing boat QNg 94373-TS has a capacity of 15 tons, practicing drag and line fishing, captained by Mr. Dinh Minh Quoc, permanent resident of Pho Chau commune, Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province. The boat departed on December 2, 2023 from Tam Quang ward, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province.
At 7:00 a.m. on December 20, the QNg 94373-TS ship had an engine failure at sea, about 80 nautical miles northeast of Ly Son Island. The QNg 94373-TS ship had been towed by the QNg 94752-TS ship of Quang Ngai fishermen for 2 days. However, the East Sea area had strong northeast winds of level 7, gusting to level 8, wave heights of 3 - 5m; the sea was rough, making it difficult for the QNg 94752-TS to tow.
Immediately upon receiving the information, the Naval Region 3 Command dispatched Ship 375, which was on a mission near the area, to quickly maneuver to the location of the distressed ship.
After many hours of overcoming big waves, strong winds, and complicated weather conditions, at 12:00 on December 20, Ship 375 approached the distressed fishing boat, carried out rescue measures, and organized a tow to shore.
Currently, the health and mental condition of the 5 workers on board is stable. The Naval Region 3 Command has carried out the procedures for handing over to local authorities according to regulations.
On behalf of the fishermen in distress at sea, fisherman Vo Xuan Quang, residing in Pho Chau commune, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province, sent his thanks to the leaders, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 3 for their attention and support in the rescue, health check-ups and thoughtful accommodation arrangements for the fishermen.
