Mr. Le Doan Hop shared at the press conference on the afternoon of May 21 in Hanoi, information about the Vu Lan - Filial Piety and Nation 2024 program organized by the Central Information and Communications Department - Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
This program has been held for the past 10 years, since 2014. This year's program is the 8th time it has been held. Mr. Le Doan Hop has participated as an advisor for the program since it was held in 2023.
This year, he continues to accompany this program honoring filial piety and nationality as an advisor.
Mr. Le Doan Hop: Having a house, a healthy wife, and obedient children is happiness.
Mr. Le Doan Hop said the reason he is attached to the program is because he personally values filial piety in every family and every country.
Especially because he highly appreciated the activities of gratitude to heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, and heroic Vietnamese mothers of the Vu Lan program - filial piety and nation .
Because he was once a soldier fighting on the battlefield and witnessed the blood and bones of his comrades shed in exchange for peace for the country.
Mr. Le Doan Hop said he joined the army in 1967, his battalion went to B with 516 people. After the war ended and he went to Saigon, Mr. Hop went to find each person in the battalion to meet and celebrate the victory, only 51 people remained.
Therefore, he feels that being alive today, having a house in Hanoi, a healthy wife, and good children, he feels that he has "made a profit".
"Those who go through war, sacrifice, shed blood, they are never greedy. Because compared to their fallen comrades, they see that they have gained too much," said Mr. Le Doan Hop.
"People who have been through war value life, humanity, and morality," Mr. Hop added.
So, after 12 years of retirement, he has built 102 gratitude houses for his comrades, 21 books for the deceased...
The Vu Lan program - filial piety and nation also has the same purpose of remembering and repaying the merits of heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, meritorious people... so Mr. Le Doan Hop is very happy to participate as an advisor.
