VinBrain Joint Stock Company, a pioneering technology startup developing products applying artificial intelligence (AI) for healthcare, and the National Lung Hospital (NLB) signed a strategic cooperation agreement to improve the tuberculosis screening process at the hospital through the AI platform.
The cooperation between VinBrain and the National Lung Hospital is built on the foundation of basic cooperation since 2019 in research and development activities and pilot implementation of DrAid at 5 hospitals in the network of the National Tuberculosis Control Program. With this signing, the two sides wish to develop more comprehensively, focusing on two key strategic directions: research development and application in clinical practice.
DrAid Tuberculosis was developed based on more than 4.26 million image data and passed verification by independent testing organizations such as Friends for International Tuberculosis Relief (FIT) and FIND, achieving 94% sensitivity and 98% specificity (exceeding WHO standards). This technology detects abnormalities in X-ray images in just 15-20 seconds, effectively supporting community TB screening.
In early 2024, VinBrain was also the only technology partner to successfully sign an agreement to transfer 32 specialized AI licenses to screen for tuberculosis for 1 million Vietnamese people with the Global Fund.
“Recognizing the importance of applying AI in supporting X-ray film reading, enhancing the effectiveness of screening and diagnosing tuberculosis at all levels of the National Tuberculosis Control Program, especially at the grassroots level. I hope that this cooperation will lead to valuable achievements, contributing to Vietnam's tuberculosis control activities and tuberculosis control in the world,” said Dr. BSCC. Dinh Van Luong, Director of the National Lung Hospital at the signing ceremony.
