The event gathered 150 guests who were experts and delegates from the world's leading organizations and airlines such as Airbus, Delta Air Lines, Lufthansa Technik, easyJet...

The conference will discuss aviation technical topics such as aircraft maintenance cost management, current aircraft maintenance trends, maintenance cost optimization through technical monitoring measures, sustainable exploitation, digital transformation, etc. In addition, international delegates will visit and survey the aircraft maintenance infrastructure of the Aircraft Engineering Company (VAECO), a member of Vietnam Airlines at Noi Bai.

Notably, due to the impact of the pandemic and geopolitical conflicts, the global aviation industry has been facing supply chain disruptions in recent years, including shortages of supplies and aircraft parts. The conference will be an opportunity for global experts to review, evaluate, and propose short-term and long-term solutions to this problem.

This year's conference is of particular importance, as the field of aircraft engineering and maintenance plays a key role in the recovery and development of the aviation industry after the pandemic.

Vietnam Airlines is honored to be the host airline accompanying the Conference. IATA's selection of Vietnam as the venue for the event and Vietnam Airlines as the host airline affirms the international community's trust in the Vietnamese aviation industry and in Vietnam as a destination.

This also shows the potential and strong development prospects of the national airline in the international market. The event is also an opportunity for Vietnam to gradually realize its plan to become a transit point for passengers and goods, and a center for aircraft maintenance and repair activities in the region and internationally.

Mr. Le Hong Ha, General Director of Vietnam Airlines said: “ The conference is an opportunity for leaders and aviation experts to discuss and propose initiatives and solutions to issues related to aircraft maintenance costs and operations. As an official member of IATA, we are honored to be the host airline of this year’s Maintenance Cost Conference, affirming the capacity and position of the national airline as well as the Vietnamese aviation industry.

This also demonstrates our commitment to join hands to solve global aviation problems, promoting the recovery and development of the world aviation industry. Besides, through the event, I believe that the image of the beautiful, gentle, dynamic Vietnamese country and people will be closer to international friends ."

As aviation returns to growth, supply chain deficits – including shortages of aircraft components – are making it difficult to meet the surge in passenger demand,” said Willie Walsh, IATA Director General. The IATA Maintenance Costs Conference is an international forum to discuss the current challenges facing the industry, as well as explore the opportunities and best practices of new technology and digitalisation.

We are delighted to host the conference in Vietnam and have Vietnam Airlines as the host airline. In particular, Vietnam Airlines is an airline with a well-developed aircraft maintenance base and has performed very successfully as a host at a recent IATA event, the World Aviation Safety and Operations Conference .”

At the conference, Vietnam Airlines will participate in discussions with organizations and airlines around the world on the topic of aircraft maintenance costs, along with the latest trends and technology applications in the field of aviation engineering. The airline focuses on areas that help reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and exploit technology such as digital transformation, aircraft component monitoring, aircraft health monitoring, data management, supply chain management, sustainable development, etc.

In particular, experts from IATA work directly with Vietnam Airlines to develop cost management capacity according to international standards, focusing on principles such as cost driver management, cost classification, cost efficiency measurement, etc.

The conference was also attended by VAECO Aircraft Engineering Company - a member of Vietnam Airlines. Established in 2009, VAECO operates according to the standards and regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the US Federal Aviation Administration, the European Aviation Safety Agency, the International Civil Aviation Organization and aviation authorities of countries. VAECO is currently providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the entire fleet of Vietnam Airlines and more than 80 other civil airlines in the world.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines is the only Vietnamese airline with an aircraft repair and maintenance company. The airline is implementing a strategy to develop its aircraft maintenance capacity and infrastructure to reach regional and global levels, and can provide specialized aircraft repair and maintenance services at competitive costs to international customers.
