Today, October 24, Hanoi University of Science and Technology held a ceremony to establish the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application. The Institute's English name is Institute for AI Innovation and Societal Impact, its English abbreviation is AI4LIFE.

Associate Professor Nguyen Phi Le, School of Information and Communication Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, was assigned the responsibility of running the institute.

According to Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang, Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, AI4LIFE will be a connecting point, helping to connect and promote cooperation between research groups in many different fields in Hanoi University of Science and Technology, as well as promote cooperation with strong research groups in the world, to create interdisciplinary research and application solutions for artificial intelligence, implementing the policy of researching and developing artificial intelligence for life, applying to life of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

AI4LIFE will have 6 laboratories, including: machine learning, smart semiconductor technology, smart life science, smart environment, smart system, smart education. AI4LIFE aims to establish at least one strong research team by 2030 and become one of the leading centers for innovation, developing solutions and applying artificial intelligence in Vietnam, contributing to making Hanoi University of Science and Technology a leading research and training facility on artificial intelligence in the ASEAN region.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, AI4LIFE is the first specialized research unit in the country focusing on interdisciplinary research and application of artificial intelligence, so that research on artificial intelligence is no longer limited to information technology but will be spread across many industries and fields.

The Ministry of Education and Training has high expectations and believes that AI4LIFE will create breakthrough research and applications of practical value, soon becoming the core in multi-disciplinary and multi-field research and application development with the intersection of artificial intelligence for life, contributing to promoting digital transformation, creating a key driving force to bring the country into a new era.
