Speaking at the opening of the 33rd Session on the morning of May 13, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man said that in 3 working days, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will give opinions, consider and decide on 14 groups of contents and give written opinions on 5 other groups of contents.
Regarding legislative work, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly gave opinions on the draft Law on Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue, along with two draft resolutions: Resolution amending and supplementing Resolution No. 119/2020/QH14 of the National Assembly on piloting the organization of an urban government model and a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city; Resolution of the National Assembly on piloting the addition of a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Nghe An province.

Regarding supervision work, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly gave opinions on the supplementary assessment report on the results of the implementation of socio-economic development tasks and the state budget in 2023; the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and the state budget in the first months of 2024.
Report on the 2022 state budget settlement (including the report on the implementation of the provisions in Clause 6, Article 3 of Resolution No. 91/2023/QH15 on approving the 2021 state budget settlement; Resolution No. 94/2019/QH14 dated November 26, 2019 of the 14th National Assembly on tax debt relief, late payment penalty debt relief, late payment interest for taxpayers who are no longer able to pay the state budget).
The Government's report on thrift practice and waste prevention in 2023 was also discussed at this meeting.
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly also gave opinions on the report on the results of supervising the settlement and response to voters' petitions sent to the 6th Session of the 15th National Assembly; and gave opinions on the draft report synthesizing voters' and people's opinions and petitions sent to the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly.
Along with that is giving opinions on the National Marine Spatial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; investment policy for the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the period 2025-2035.
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly also gave opinions on the Government's Proposal on the allocation of the medium-term public investment plan using state budget capital for the 2021-2025 period and the 2024 capital plan for tasks and projects using the increased central budget revenue in 2022 that have completed investment procedures.
Ratification of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland's accession document to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
According to Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will give its final opinion on preparations for the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly (scheduled to open on May 20); and summarize the 7th Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly.
Also at this session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly decided on matters within its authority, such as: Considering the draft Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the highest military rank for a number of positions and titles of officers who are generals under the Ministry of National Defense as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 15 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army; considering the report on the National Assembly's public petition work in April 2024.

In addition, the National Assembly gave written opinions on the Government's reports on: the results of mobilizing, using, paying, and settling the total resources spent on COVID-19 prevention and control in the 2020-2022 period; the results of reviewing, synthesizing, classifying, and issuing guiding documents according to its authority to thoroughly handle backlogs and problems in the management, use, payment, and settlement of resources serving COVID-19 prevention and control.

“This is a meeting to review the remaining contents before submitting them to the National Assembly as well as to consider the conditions for the 7th Session,” Mr. Tran Thanh Man noted, and at the same time requested relevant agencies to urgently complete the contents to send to National Assembly delegates according to regulations.
