Small and medium enterprises pioneer in green manufacturing
More than 97% of enterprises in Vietnam are small and medium-sized. In the context of climate change, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to make a green transition has become a top priority. Many recycled products have been commercialized, such as bags made from discarded fishing nets and items made from reed grass, helping to create economic value while protecting the environment.
Handicraft products and green production models help increase economic value and protect the environment.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Handicraft and Wood Processing Association said that natural materials such as reed grass not only solve the output for farmers but can also be exported to the US and Australia. Meanwhile, businesses that recycle plastic, packaging or environmentally friendly footwear are also applying a circular, closed economic model from production to reuse.
Support policy and consumer companionship
To expand the impact, the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises awarded the “Activating Green Transformation” package worth VND120 million to 9 typical units. In addition, the association also signed a cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance and Ho Chi Minh City National University to promote green research, training and practices.

People exploit the grass, a natural resource for green and sustainable production.
Consumers also play an important role. Every choice to buy environmentally friendly products is a “vote” in favor of green production. When the market cooperates, businesses will have more motivation to innovate, thereby reducing costs and creating fair competition.
Greening from small steps
According to experts, green transformation does not necessarily start with big technology or large-scale projects. It can start with using clean materials, saving energy in production, or recycling packaging. Small but sustainable changes will resonate, contributing to reducing emissions, protecting the ecosystem and bringing Vietnam closer to the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
