USB-C and the importance of the new connection on the iPhone 15 series

First released in 2014, USB-C has quickly become a favorite connector in the tech community, according to BGR . But why do people prefer USB-C, and why is Apple's full switch to it so notable?

All iPhone 15 series models use USB-C charging port

The big idea behind USB-C is to eliminate the disparity of connector types that tech consumers have encountered over the past two decades. When the first computers hit the consumer market, people were faced with VGA connectors, USB connectors, 3.5mm headphone jacks, and a host of other available connectivity options.

Having so many different connection options is really confusing for most users, which is why many people are excited about the strong push of USB-C. Not only does it eliminate some of the hassles of the traditional USB-A and USB-B connectors, but it also offers high-speed data transfer, video signal transmission, and even battery charging.

This essentially makes it more useful than other types of USB. Additionally, many entities, like the European Union (EU), are pushing for wider adoption of USB-C because it will help reduce cable waste.

Many Apple devices now use USB-C ports instead of the proprietary ports of the past.

If all phones and electronics supported the same charging cable, there would be no reason for people to have multiple cables, reducing the likelihood of throwing them away every time they needed to replace a device. With USB-C, we can keep using the same cable until it stops working, reducing waste.

And since every device supports the same type of charging connector, users also don’t have to worry about manufacturers always including those cables in the box. While some may see this as a scam, others see it as a huge benefit in terms of cutting down on waste, which will certainly help reduce the climate change impact that people are causing with their wastefulness.

There are many reasons why USB-C is important, but ultimately, it all comes down to making life easier for everyone in the world who uses tech devices.
