This year the number of candidates registering for the 10th grade exam at Gifted High School increased sharply compared to last year.
English major has the highest competition rate of 1/12
According to records, there have been about 4,000 candidates registered for the 10th grade exam, a sharp increase compared to last year (in 2023, there were 3,092 candidates registered for the 10th grade exam at this school). With an enrollment target of 595 students, the average competition ratio of the Gifted High School this year is nearly 1/7 (last year it was about 1/5).
Among them, the English major has the highest number of candidates registering for the 10th grade exam, with more than 1,300 candidates. It is known that the enrollment target for the 10th grade English major is 105 students, which means the competition ratio is approximately 1/12.
According to the announcement of the Gifted High School, on May 20, parents and candidates log in to the account used to register for the exam and admission, the exam notice will be displayed in the "Exam Notice" section.
Parents and candidates can print the exam notice (A4 size, portrait, recommended to print in color to clearly see the candidate's face) to see the registration number, exam location, exam room, etc.
Candidates must bring their ID card and exam notice to enter the examination room. In case of forgetting to bring their ID card or/and exam notice, the council will guide them into the examination room.

Study at 2 campuses with different orientations
In the 2024-2025 school year, the Gifted High School will enroll 595 grade 10 students and distribute them into specialized classes corresponding to 2 learning facilities.
Q.5 Campus (at 153 Nguyen Chi Thanh, Ward 9, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) recruits 245 students (35 students/class) for specialized classes: Math, IT, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Literature.
The output standards of specialized classes at District 5 campus emphasize the development of academic capacity, early access to specialized knowledge at high school and university levels, and orientation to develop talents in key scientific fields at higher levels of education.
Thu Duc Campus (at Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area) recruits 350 students into 10 specialized classes oriented towards interdisciplinary fields (LN): Math-LN (2 classes), IT-LN (1 class), Physics-LN (1 class), Chemistry-LN (1 class), Biology-LN (1 class), English-LN (2 classes) and Literature-LN (2 classes).
The output standards of specialized classes at Thu Duc campus emphasize the development of interdisciplinary thinking skills through diverse career experience opportunities, orienting talent development towards important areas in socio-economic life.
All students nationwide are eligible to take the exam and be admitted if they meet the following conditions:
- The age for students entering grade 10 is 15 years old. For students who skip a grade in junior high school or students entering junior high school at an older age than the prescribed age, the age for entering grade 10 will be reduced or increased based on the age of the year of graduating from junior high school.
- Conduct and academic performance for the entire school year of junior high school classes are ranked from good and above.
- Graduated from secondary school with good grade or higher.
In addition, the Gifted High School requires candidates to take 4 exams, including 3 non-specialized subjects: Math, Literature, English and an optional specialized subject exam from the following subjects: Math, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.
Each candidate can register for a maximum of 2 specialized subjects in the elective specialized subject exam. In case of registering for 2 subjects, candidates must ensure to choose one subject in each group.
