The President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has just announced that the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year will not be held to use funds to support people in flood-affected areas.

According to the school, in recent days, storm No. 3 (also known as storm Yagi) and floods caused by the storm's circulation have caused serious damage to people and property in the northern provinces of our country.

In the spirit of sharing, the school has decided not to hold the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year on the morning of September 27 as planned. The school will use the funds from the opening ceremony to support people in flood-affected areas with an amount of 100 million VND.

At the same time, responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the school mobilized civil servants, employees and students to contribute to support people in the northern provinces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters according to the general plan of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The school representative said that activities to welcome new students within the framework of the opening ceremony such as: interactive space with businesses, rewards, scholarship awards, skill sharing activities for students... will still take place as planned.

In recent days, many universities in Ho Chi Minh City have also launched fundraising campaigns to support people affected by storms and floods in the northern provinces and cities.
