The Chinese side congratulated Comrade Luong Cuong on his election as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and believed that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will gain new and greater achievements in the cause of socialist construction and modernization.

This was the statement of Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian at a press conference held on October 22, when answering questions from the press about China's comments on the election of Mr. Luong Cuong, Permanent Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as President as well as expectations about the relationship. Mr. Lam Kiem said that China and Vietnam are building a Community of Shared Future of strategic significance; next year, the two countries will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and organize the "China-Vietnam Year of Humanitarian Exchanges", the development of bilateral relations is facing new historical opportunities.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson affirmed that the Chinese side is willing to work with the Vietnamese side to make efforts to implement the important high-level common perceptions between the two Parties and two countries, promote the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, promote the building of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future in depth and substance, and bring more benefits to the people of the two countries.
According to Xinhua News Agency, on October 22, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Comrade Luong Cuong on his inauguration as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
