Trung Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (Trungnam Group) has just sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and departments and branches, proposing to participate in the Can Gio bridge project under the BT (build-transfer) form under the public-private partnership (PPP) contract group.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City assigned Trungnam Group to prepare a pre-feasibility report for the project. The dossier was submitted to the City People's Committee and was previously used by the Department of Transport as a basis for completion, and submitted to the City People's Council at the end of 2023.
According to Trungnam Group, the project has a total investment capital of about 10,569 billion VND, expected to be implemented in the 2024-2028 period under the BOT form. However, after Metro Line 12 (old District 7 - Can Gio) was adjusted to PPP according to Decision 1125/QD-TTg, the enterprise said that it was necessary to change the capital mobilization method.
Trungnam assessed that the BOT model has limitations due to low traffic volume, a payback period of 30-50 years, and impacts on Metro Line 12. Therefore, the unit proposed switching to PPP, hoping to optimize financial efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and be suitable for local conditions.
This company commits to comprehensive support from design to construction, ensuring progress and quality.
Trungnam is known as a corporation that has implemented many large projects such as My Thuan 2 Bridge, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, Phu An Bridge, Ham Luong Bridge - Ca Mau .
Vingroup Corporation has just started the super project of reclaiming the sea at Can Gio beach in April 2025.
In addition to Trungnam, Masterise Group also expressed its desire to participate in investing in Can Gio bridge under the BT form.
Similarly, Thaigroup Corporation proposed that the city consider allowing it to participate in the Can Gio bridge project under a BT contract or other suitable method.
According to the plan, Can Gio bridge will cross Soai Rap river, connecting Can Gio district (old) with Nha Be (old), following Highway 15B, crossing Nguyen Binh and connecting to Rung Sac road, about 2.5 km south of Binh Khanh ferry.
Currently, the connection between Can Gio and the center of Ho Chi Minh City mainly relies on Binh Khanh ferry. Along with Can Gio bridge, a 48.5 km metro line is being promoted, expected to meet travel needs and promote development when this area forms an international transit port and coastal urban area.
