Madam Pang won 68/73 votes, a record in the history of FAT President elections so far. The billionaire will replace Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung, becoming the 18th FAT President in history and working for a term from 2024 to 2028.

Sharing with the media, Madam Pang said that Mr. Newin Chidchob - Chairman of Buriram United was the one who directly influenced her candidacy for the position of FAT Chairman.

“I have to admit that this is the first time Newin Chidchob has come as an advisor. He has officially revealed himself and given me a lot of advice. Newin Chidchob is the Chairman of Buriram United and has had many successes. Coming to this election, everyone wants to work together to save the crisis of confidence of Thai fans, when we have continuously had poor results in international tournaments. With his help, the Thai team has restored confidence very well.

“Without the cooperation from all sides, including Mr. Newin Chidchob, Thai football cannot continue from now on. We will talk about the beginning today, everyone will see Thai football continuously moving forward,” said Madam Pang.

Next, Madam Pang revealed the "huge" plans of U.23 Thailand and the national team in the coming years. Madam declared: "For U.23 Thailand, the players will have the mission of winning the right to participate in the Olympics. From April, we will start training plans to improve our level and quality.

As for the Thai team, I am very happy that we have just finished the 2023 Asian Cup with quite positive results. Currently, coach Masatada Ishii and FAT have also reached agreements. When I am recognized as the FTA President, I will definitely sign a contract with coach Ishii for another 2 years or 2.5 years. In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Thailand is determined to create a surprise. Especially in the 2 matches against the Korean team in March, I am determined and believe that the Thai team will have points to compete for a ticket to the World Cup."

Despite receiving a huge number of votes and being confirmed by FAT to become the 18th President, Madam Pang is still waiting for approval and recognition from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The reason is that on the afternoon of February 8, candidate Worawong Witthawan - a former spokesman for the Thai League and receiving 2 votes, unexpectedly filed a complaint to the Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

Khaosod wrote: “Mr. Worawong Witthawan was one of the candidates for FAT President but only received 2 votes. He suddenly filed a lawsuit with SAT, claiming that Madam Pang violated 4 articles in the election regulations. SAT is currently reviewing and therefore FIFA still cannot recognize Madam Pang as the new FAT President.”
