In the submission dated October 22, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that the Tet holiday plan was selected based on the opinions and synthesis of 16 ministries and sectors over the past month. 13/13 ministries and sectors agreed, 3 agencies did not have opinions on the plan proposed by the drafting agency.

Accordingly, the official Tet holiday schedule is from January 27, 2025, which is December 28, the year of the Dragon, through December 29 and the 3 days of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of Tet, which is until January 31, 2025.

However, immediately before the 5 official holidays are 2 weekend days (Saturday, Sunday, January 25-26, 2025, ie December 26, 27 of the lunar calendar). After the official holidays come the next 2 weekend days, Saturday, Sunday, February 1-2, 2025.

In fact, the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday will start from Saturday, January 25, 2025 to Sunday, February 2, 2025 (ie the end of January 5, At Ty year).

With Tet falling on all 5 working days of the week like this, civil servants and public employees have their vacation extended to 9 consecutive days (including 5 official Tet holidays and 4 weekend days of two consecutive weeks).

This is the holiday schedule applicable to civil servants and public employees. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs encourages businesses nationwide to follow this schedule. For businesses not included in the above categories, employers can choose one of three Tet holiday options: one day off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and four days at the beginning of the year of At Ty, two days off at the end of the year and three days at the beginning of the year, or three days off at the end of the year and two days at the beginning of the year.

According to the drafting agency, the extended Tet holiday will create conditions for workers to have more time with their families, while also stimulating tourism and shopping.
