This year’s April 30 and May 1 holidays last for five days with many exciting events across the country. Ho Chi Minh City is the destination that has exploded in both number and tourism revenue. Next are the island destinations.
According to a report by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the country's tourism industry has shown signs of improvement during the first summer holiday with the number of visitors reaching 10.5 million (an increase of more than 30% over the same period in 2024).
Of which, the number of guests staying reached 6.5 million. The average room occupancy rate at tourist accommodation establishments reached about 70% nationwide; during the first days of the holiday, it reached over 80%. In particular, some coastal destinations and Ho Chi Minh City had a rate of 90-95%.
Top 4 localities welcoming over 1 million visitors include: Ho Chi Minh City (1.95 million), Thanh Hoa (1.6 million), Quang Ninh (over 1.1 million), Khanh Hoa (over 1 million).
In particular, the April 30 and May 1 holidays were the first time that room occupancy in Ho Chi Minh City reached 95%, an increase of over 300% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, with the spirit of "Proud of 50 years - Radiant city named after Uncle Ho", Ho Chi Minh City has truly left a strong impression in the hearts of people and tourists.
Thereby creating a spread of national pride of the Vietnamese people, giving visitors impressive experiences during the great national festival.
Besides, the long holiday period, combined with hot weather, most tourists choose beach destinations such as: Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Sam Son (Thanh Hoa), (Cua Lo) Nghe An, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Kien Giang...
During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, attractive tourist destinations are mainly located in places with cool climates or by the sea.
In the North are Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Cat Ba (Hai Phong), Sam Son (Thanh Hoa), Cua Lo (Nghe An).

The Central region has Ba Na (Da Nang), Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Mui Ne (Binh Thuan), Mang Den (Kon Tum), Da Lat (Lam Dong).
In the Southern region, there are Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang).
This holiday season sees a trend of more visitors coming to the Southern region than every year because of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, especially during the first two days of the holiday.
Many tourists have prioritized the "back to the source tour" journey with historical imprints to feel the atmosphere of gratitude, remembrance and relive the heroic memories of the nation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
In addition to the boom in domestic tourists, the Department of Tourism assessed that the number of international visitors still had good growth momentum even though the peak season had passed.
