The June 15 fundraising event at the Peacock Theater was attended by President Biden, former US President Barack Obama and many Hollywood stars. According to the Los Angeles Times , tickets to the event ranged from $250 for a seat far from the stage to as high as $500,000 for a front row seat, with the right to take photos with Mr. Biden and Mr. Obama, and to attend a VIP after-party.
The previous fundraising record was held by a Biden campaign event in Manhattan, New York in March. Former Presidents Obama and Bill Clinton attended the event. The Democratic Party has a cash advantage over former President Donald Trump’s campaign, and the June 15 event will help Biden’s campaign add significant funds.

Mr. Biden also took advantage of the event to criticize his Republican opponent Donald Trump. In addition, the White House owner specifically attacked the US Supreme Court, saying that the court "has never been more backward than it is now," according to Reuters.
President Biden pointed to the conservative-majority Supreme Court overturning a 50-year-old abortion ruling, warning that a Trump victory would likely see him nominate two more conservative justices. Of the nine justices currently on the court, six are conservative.
Mr. Trump is gaining an advantage over President Biden in the election race.
While the Democratic candidate had a record fundraising night in Los Angeles, Mr. Trump went to a church in Detroit, Michigan on June 15 to attract votes from black voters, Reuters reported. Michigan is a battleground state that both candidates Biden and Trump want to win. Mr. Biden won this state in 2020 with a margin of about 150,000 votes.
