On the morning of August 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) and receive the First Class Labor Medal.
General Secretary To Lam and former and high-ranking leaders of the Party and State attended. President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent congratulatory flower baskets .
On this occasion, at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam awarded the title of Hero of Labor to Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam - for her great contributions in the field of foreign affairs, contributing to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam congratulated former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh.
At the event, with great emotion, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh affirmed that the negotiation between us and the US at the Paris Conference to discuss ending the war in Vietnam was a particularly important event in the 80-year history of diplomacy.
"Today, we have peace, independence, unity with a new position, deep international integration, with the goal of building a strong and developed Vietnam. I believe that with 80 years of tradition and valuable historical lessons, the diplomatic sector will develop strongly, reap many great victories in the new journey, worthy of the trust of the Party, State and people," Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh expressed her confidence.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh's real name is Nguyen Thi Chau Sa, born on May 26, 1927. During the period 1969-1976, she was the Head of the Negotiation Delegation of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam at the Paris Conference on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam; Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of all foreign affairs, international dialogue, public opinion mobilization, and diplomatic struggle.
At the four-party talks in Paris, Vietnam had two delegations, including the Democratic Republic of Vietnam delegation led by Foreign Minister Tran Xuan Thuy and Special Advisor Le Duc Tho. The second delegation of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam was led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh.
The two delegations coordinated closely, overcame all difficulties, united and joined forces and after nearly 5 years completed the mission. The victory at the diplomatic negotiation table contributed to the great historical victory of the nation, leading to the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

In addition to the Paris Conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh also directly led propaganda activities, people-to-people diplomacy, and built an international network of relations with more than 40 countries and progressive international organizations. Visiting many countries across the continents, she attended many rallies, demonstrations, and parades, thereby bringing the heroic struggle of the people of South Vietnam to the world.
With her tireless contributions to the Fatherland, she has received many recognitions and noble awards such as: Ho Chi Minh Medal, First Class Medal of Military Exploit, First Class Medal of Resistance Against America, Great Solidarity Medal, First Class Medal of Freedom of Laos.
