The new feature allows users to make live calls with people who speak other languages, then get live translations in audio and on-screen characters.
Samsung's Vice President of Product Management, Drew Blackard, said the feature supports users as a real interpreter.
Thanks to Google's most effective artificial intelligence (AI) model today, Gemini Nano, Samsung's live translation feature currently only supports audio and text translation for up to 13 languages, including Vietnamese.
Additionally, all translation takes place on the device, so Samsung owners' phone calls are completely secure.
The feature will also automatically remember the user's language settings, as well as the language used by the owner of the phone number in the contact list. Therefore, users do not need to update their language settings before each conversation. This is very useful for people who have to make international calls frequently, as well as those who travel abroad frequently.
Samsung notes that users can choose communication styles that are appropriate for different contexts, such as a “casual” style when chatting with friends or “formal” when having social or business conversations.
