TIEN GIANG - Inspecting the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed to complete the project on the occasion of National Day, September 2, 2025, 7 months earlier than expected.
The request was made by the head of the Government at the conference announcing the planning and investment promotion of Tien Giang province on the morning of March 24. "The goal is to complete Rach Mieu 2 Bridge by the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, September 2, 2025," the Prime Minister said, directing the Ministry of Transport and the People's Committee of Tien Giang province to closely monitor the project's progress.

Last night, the Prime Minister and the Government and Ministry of Transport delegation visited the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction site to visit and present gifts to the construction unit. He expressed his thanks to the workers and engineers who have worked in the spirit of "three shifts, four shifts", "overcoming the sun and overcoming the rain" throughout the past time. This is the second time the Government leader has inspected the construction progress of the vital bridge in the West after the first time in mid-February last year.

According to information from My Thuan Project Management Board (project investor), up to now, the site clearance work has reached more than 96%, the construction progress has reached more than 41%, basically meeting the planned progress. Relevant agencies strive to hand over the entire cleared site in the first quarter of 2024, and by the end of 2024, the construction progress of the entire project has reached 70%.
Rach Mieu 2 is the seventh bridge across the Tien River, after Rach Mieu, Cao Lanh (Dong Thap), My Thuan (connecting Vinh Long with Tien Giang), My Thuan 2 (under construction), Ham Luong (Ben Tre), Co Chien (connecting Ben Tre with Tra Vinh).

The project has a total investment of VND5,200 billion, then adjusted to more than VND6,800 billion, 17.6 km long, connecting Tien Giang with Ben Tre, started in March 2022, expected to be completed after three years. The project is nearly 4 km from the existing bridge, after completion it will help reduce the load on National Highway 60, especially the existing bridge which is often congested during holidays and Tet.
