At Dong Thap province, the Ministry of Construction coordinated with the People's Committees of Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces to organize the inauguration ceremony and put into operation the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Construction Investment Project connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces (now Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces).

According to the leaders of the Ministry of Construction, of the 250 projects and works that were started and inaugurated on this occasion, 89 projects and works were inaugurated and 161 projects and works were started. Of these, 59 projects were for transport infrastructure; 44 civil and urban projects; 57 industrial projects; 36 technical infrastructure projects; 22 social housing projects; 6 agriculture and rural development projects; 3 culture and sports projects; 12 education projects; 1 defense project; 10 health care projects.

The total investment of the works and projects is 1.28 million billion VND, including: 478,000 billion VND of state capital for 129 projects and 802,000 billion VND of 121 projects from other sources.

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project alone has a total investment of over 6,810 billion VND from the state budget. The Rach Mieu 2 main bridge is designed as a cable-stayed bridge, with a length of over 1,971 km; a grade III plain road, with 4 lanes. The total length of the project is about 17.6 km.

The project started construction on March 29, 2022. The project is considered a symbol of the self-reliance of Vietnamese bridge workers.

During the implementation process, the project encountered many difficulties. However, thanks to the attention and close direction of the Party and State leaders; the close coordination of the two former provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre (now Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces)..., the project was completed about 5 months early.
