On August 21, the Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) decided to recall and destroy the entire batch. mouthwash Lesgo children's bottle 150 ml, batch number 0426230724, was found to contain Methylparaben - a preservative not declared in the product ingredients.
Previously, the product sample was taken by the Center for Drug, Cosmetic, and Food Testing - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety at CoopXtra Tan Phong supermarket (SC VivoCity, District 7) for quality testing. The results showed that the product contained Methylparaben, violates ingredient declaration regulations.
The product is manufactured and distributed by Ellie Joint Stock Company (HCMC). On e-commerce platforms, the product is advertised as helping prevent tooth decay and protect tooth enamel for children, with a price range of 30,000-40,000 VND/bottle.
In response to this violation, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requested pharmacies and stores to immediately stop selling and return the products to the suppliers. The Department of Health of provinces and cities is responsible for recalling and destroying the products. The Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City must recall the cosmetic product declaration form of the above batch and at the same time inspect the compliance with the law of Ellie Company.
Methylparaben is a common preservative in the cosmetics and food industries, which has the effect of preventing mold and bacteria. However, experts warn that if used without transparency, in the wrong dosage, especially in products for children, it can cause allergy, endocrine disruption and long-term health effects.
Recently, many violations in the production and trading of cosmetics have been discovered. In June alone, the Department of Pharmacy conducted surprise inspections of 38 establishments and discovered 17 violations. Meanwhile, in 20 provinces and cities, authorities inspected 865 establishments and discovered 48 violations related to the quality of drugs and cosmetics.
