High School Graduation Exam 2025: Double the exam code for elective subjects

At the online conference on high school graduation exams, primary school admissions and implementation of Circular 29 on management of extra teaching and learning on the afternoon of March 28, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), mentioned some notable new points of this year's high school graduation exam.

Regarding the exam, Mr. Ha emphasized that the content focuses mainly on grade 12. The exam must follow the requirements of the 2018 General Education program, not content outside the program. The exam is distributed in the following direction: 40% at the knowledge level, 30% understanding, 30% application. Thus, 70% is inclined towards preparing for high school graduation. The application part is unfamiliar, not the contexts available in textbooks...

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha also mentioned some new points in the organization of the exam. Accordingly, one of the issues that the departments are worried about is the process of arranging the exam rooms. The exam will only be held in 3 sessions, especially the 3rd session has 2 subjects. For example, physics can be tested in 2 time slots in that exam session. How is this handled? For the convenience of students, they are arranged in only one exam room, not having to move around during the exam sessions. Even if a subject is tested in 2 different time slots, to ensure security, instead of only 24 exam codes, it will be increased to 48 exam codes, 24 exam codes for each time slot. Exam papers will be collected by exam room, not by subject. "We have conducted tests and simulations of up to 5 different exam subjects in 1 exam room in 2 time slots, showing that it can still be handled," said Mr. Ha.

Mr. Ha also hopes that localities will organize mock exams and said that in the past, some localities have conducted mock exams like the real ones with basically smooth results. "We request that the departments organizing mock exams must do it as similar as possible to the real exam model," Mr. Ha emphasized.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong also requested that the Departments of Education and Training organize mock high school graduation exams, but evaluate them realistically and grade the results correctly to know the students' abilities and the exam organization process, thereby drawing lessons. The entrance exams and high school graduation exams need to have appropriate questions according to what has been announced, according to the program's output standards, suitable for students' abilities and the exam's objectives in accordance with the direction of Resolution 29 and Conclusion 91 of the Prime Minister to reduce pressure, reduce costs but still ensure quality, suitable for students, with the goal that students do not have to take extra classes and teachers do not teach extra classes.
