On January 24, news from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the Chairman of the People's Committee of this province has just directed a pilot program to clear fishing activities on rivers and canals.
According to the pilot plan established by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau, in 2024, bottom fishing will be cleared on the Tac Thu - Song Doc river route (Tran Van Thoi district) with 82 households and on the rivers in Dat Mui commune (Ngoc Hien district) with 47 households.

According to statistics from Tran Van Thoi and Ngoc Hien districts, as of September 26, 2023, the total number of households participating in bottom fishing and other aquatic resource exploitation activities on rivers and canals on the Tac Thu - Song Doc river route and the river route in Dat Mui commune is 143 households/471 main workers. Of which, the number of households participating in bottom fishing activities is 129 households/436 main workers, the number of households participating in other aquatic resource exploitation activities (nets, traps, traps...) is 14 households/35 main workers.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province directed that the implementation of the pilot plan must be strict, effective, in accordance with procedures and regulations, and not allow complicated complaints to occur, leading to the emergence of security and order hotspots in the area. The funding source for implementation is allocated from the state budget according to regulations; counterpart funds from the people and other legal funding sources (if any).
