Young generation remembers soldiers of Gac Ma

In the atmosphere of the days of gratitude, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day. On July 18, at the Gac Ma Memorial Site, the Youth Union of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC) chaired and coordinated with the Youth Union of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and the Youth Union of Factory X52 to organize a ceremony to offer incense, flowers, and light candles in memory of 64 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy who sacrificed their lives in the battle to protect sovereignty at Gac Ma - Co Lin - Len Dao reefs in Truong Sa district on March 14, 1988.

Attending the program were leaders, Standing members, key officials, and outstanding youth union members of the Youth Union of 3 units.

At the ceremony, the delegation offered flowers and incense to express their gratitude to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their blood and youth to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland; listened to the historical traditions of the nation and the contributions of the Navy soldiers, especially the sacrifice of 64 officers and soldiers in the battle to protect Gac Ma island.

At the ceremony, the delegation offered flowers and incense at the monument cluster “Those who lie on the horizon”, a wreath with the words “Forever grateful to the heroic martyrs” and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Next, the delegation offered incense at the Wind Tomb; visited the underground museum - where the relics of the heroes and martyrs of Gac Ma are kept; learned about the war and the heroic sacrifice of 64 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy while on duty to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the waters of Gac Ma-Co Lin-Len Dao in 1988.

“Journey to the source” in 2025 is a meaningful activity to demonstrate the morality of “When drinking water, remember its source”, to do a good job of gratitude and contribute to educating revolutionary traditions for union members and young people in units. It can be said that this journey to the source, in addition to studying and understanding the history and culture of the nation, is also an opportunity to arouse patriotism and national pride in the young generation, the spirit of indomitable resilience, overcoming difficulties in work and life.
