The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted Kim Jong Un as saying that international relations had "gone beyond the dangerous flashpoint and turned into extremely unjust and terrible conflicts and catastrophic disasters", caused by various discords and confrontations as well as US tactics.

According to the North Korean leader, currently, international standards of respecting the sovereignty of every country and every nation and protecting world peace and security are shaken.

Accusing the US of expanding its nuclear-sharing military alliance system to check Pyongyang's radical power, the leader said that "never before have the parties on the Korean Peninsula faced such a dangerous and severe situation as they do now." Each side faces a situation that could escalate into the most devastating nuclear war.

In his speech, Chairman Kim Jong Un said that although he tried to negotiate with the US, the results only highlighted the country's "aggressive and hostile" policy towards North Korea, not the will to coexist as Pyongyang desired.

Emphasizing that, existing in a world that is overheated by current military power conflicts, he said: "A country that gives up its ability to defend itself cannot be called a truly sovereign country and a country that is weak in strength will certainly be trampled."

The leader called on the country to build the strongest national defense to overwhelm the enemy by making rapid advances in the defense industry, calling it the only way to protect peace and ensure the nation's stability and steady development.
