Established in 2014, each year, the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund (Tam Diep City) awards approximately 300 students, with a total amount of nearly 400 million VND. These gifts have been a timely encouragement for students to strive for greater achievements in their studies.
Coming to receive the award from the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship Fund, Vu Khac Manh, a former student of class 12A, Nguyen Hue High School, was very emotional. Manh lost his father, and his mother alone worked hard to take care of his two brothers with a small worker's salary. Not letting his mother down, Manh is a good student, a good student, and is always the pride of his family and school. In the 2022-2023 school year, Manh won second prize at the provincial level in Math for grade 12. Then, in the recent university entrance exam, with a score of 28.3 points in block A1 - including 9.6 points in Math, Manh was admitted to the Foreign Trade University, Faculty of Foreign Economics.
Sharing about the "double joy" of the past year, Manh said: Since I was in 7th grade, my father passed away, my mother has replaced him as both a spiritual and material support for my siblings. My biggest motivation to study is to try to study well so that in the future I can repay my mother and become her pride. Every achievement I have made is a joy and pride for my relatives and is honored and rewarded by the school, the city and especially the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund.
That practical and timely concern is a great source of encouragement for me to conquer new achievements in my studies. About to enter a new school, I will strive from the second year to be independent by working as a tutor and "hunting" for scholarships. When I grow up, I will also come back to help children in difficult circumstances, so that they can confidently go to school like I did.
Established in 2014, each year, the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship Fund awards approximately 300 students with outstanding academic achievements with a total amount of approximately 400 million VND. In the 2022-2023 school year alone, the Fund awarded 68 students who won prizes in competitions for excellent students from city to national levels; valedictorians of grade 10 high schools and students with high scores in the recent high school graduation exam. The timely awards have had great significance, motivating and encouraging students to strive to excel in their studies, affirming the quality of local education.
Specifically, in the 2022-2023 school year, the quantity and quality of awards in the competitions: selecting excellent students in cultural subjects for grade 9, science and technology competitions, sports competitions for high school students; competitions, intellectual playgrounds for primary and secondary school students... of Tam Diep city are increasingly improved. Accordingly, the whole city has 36 students winning prizes in the provincial competition to select excellent students in cultural subjects for grade 9; there are 2 projects winning provincial prizes in the science and technology competition for high school students; many students won gold, silver, bronze, and encouragement prizes at the national level in the competitions: Violympic Math-English; Violympic Math-Vietnamese; IOE English...

This year, in addition to awarding students with high academic achievements, the Fund Management Board also awarded scholarships to students with difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies. These include orphans, children whose families are poor or near-poor, or students with disabilities. Despite their difficult circumstances, many students have strived to study and achieved good results. Of the 153 disadvantaged students who received scholarships this time, more than 57 students achieved excellent or good academic results throughout the school year.
Mr. Duong Quoc Hung, Deputy Manager of the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship Fund, said: Caring for, accompanying and motivating students in difficult circumstances to go to school is also one of the tasks that the City Scholarship Association has been interested in implementing over the past years. Typically, in 2021, the whole city had 90 students in difficult circumstances receiving the "Going to School with You" scholarship with a total support amount of nearly 400 million VND. In 2022, 20 students received this scholarship with a total amount of nearly 100 million VND.
In reality, there are still many students in extremely difficult circumstances who need the support and help of the community to widen their path to school. Therefore, from this year, the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship Fund will focus on and mobilize scholarships for students in difficult circumstances.
