TPO - The Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just directed relevant agencies to consider supporting tuition fees for students in areas affected by storms and floods.

Accordingly, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi assigned the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Department of Finance, and relevant units to research and, based on regulations and actual situations, issue documents to guide educational institutions, localities, and relevant units to implement tuition support for students in areas affected by storms and floods.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training sent a document to provinces and cities stating that storm No. 3 and the floods following the storm had severely affected many provinces and cities. The Ministry of Education and Training requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities, based on the level of damage to the people, to consider and decide to support tuition fees, not to collect tuition fees for preschool children and primary school students according to their authority and current legal regulations to share and support parents and students, especially for students in areas affected by storms, floods and natural disasters.

Due to the landslide, students of Lam Phu Secondary School, Lang Chanh District are forced to temporarily relocate to another place to study.

Authorities assist students of Trung Ly Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Muong Lat District, to evacuate from the dormitory due to landslides.

In recent days, in Thanh Hoa, prolonged heavy rains and water from upstream have caused landslides and flooding on many roads, houses, constructions, and agricultural and forestry assets of people in many localities. Notably, many schools and dormitories have been damaged by landslides from the mountains, posing a risk to teaching and learning. Some localities are temporarily suspending students from school, or moving them to temporary study locations, temporary accommodation... which has significantly affected learning and teaching. Currently, functional agencies, local authorities and people are making efforts to overcome the aftermath of the floods, in order to soon stabilize life and allow students to return to school...
